Return of Pelzer Real Franchise league - full again

Postby KEVINEHLE » Fri May 20, 2011 3:38 pm

I think the guys looking in will think this league will be too unbalanced. It's not for the feint of heart.....but contrary to what guys might think, these teams will be playing other teams in their skill level (except maybe the Angels).

[b:8b44bb6fe3]I will always think back to the 1969 version of this very same Theme league where my '69 Royals (69-93 in real life) went to the World Series and nearly won it all......with 4 outfielders (including all 3 starters) missing the last 3 games of the series!!! [/b:8b44bb6fe3]

I believe that any of these 12 loser teams can rise up and beat the other loser teams like my beloved '69 Royals!!

I throw down the challenge to all of the gutsy managers out there to give this theme a shot!!!

George, Please pick a different lotto state than ND which doesn't have a pick 3 game. Most states have a pick 3 game. It doesn't matter which you pick. I picked DC but live in FL. FL has a pick 3 game, you can pick that state if you want.

Theme League

Postby evanthomas » Fri May 20, 2011 6:20 pm

I am interested, a couple of questions. If the same teams wind up in the series in leagues one and two, how do you fill the league three? Is allocation of teams for league two and three based on initial lottery numbers or is there a new draw for each league? thanks.

I changed North Dakota to Maine. If I read the lottery site correctly, Maine has a pick 3. If it doesn't, let me know. BTW, I don't live anywhere near any state: France doesn't have a pick 3.

Great question, and a scenero I hadn;t thought of. I think it would be highly unlikely for that to happen because each league is progressivly better. How about if it does happen where one or both of the teams go all the way to league 3 as winner or runner up, we'll take the losing playoff teams from league 2 (Manager does not have to keep them) just simply to make up for missing teams. As for lotto, there will be a new lotto at the completion of each league to start the new league. Hope that works for everyone.

[quote:4bc0a2e41f="LMBombers"]Are we using the regular 2010 game or the "unleashed" set of players which adds about 10 or so players with very good stats who had very few ABs?

Hey Larry, I know you are an Okie now but last year I went through Pelzer, SC and I thought about my old buddy Larry. I found a chain of restaurants around Columbia called the Lizard's Thicket and man do they have some good vittles. Good home cookin can be found there.

Let;s go with NO Unleashed. 2010 Main player set only

Well said Kev, these types of league are appealing to me because they are so competitive...And you never know when David will bite Goliath in the rear. Remember that cival war theme we played 5 or 6 years agao ? Now that was wild

theme league

As a longtime Cub fan, working with a losing club is right down my alley. Hope springs eternal, but reality bites. I'll go with Illinois as the lotto state, might as well put all the losers together. Might as well select DH, maybe can get one hitter for the lineup in case I have the Cubs. Is West the appropriate division? Thanks.
