First real 2010 team opinions

A 1 in CF certainly is better than a 2, but I think a 2 (and even a 3 in some situations) is fine. CF gets less X chances than 2nd and short, and the same as catcher and third, so I'm not as sold on needing defense in CF as some are.

quick question, for anyone who is watching this thread?

Is this the type of things that happen often? Mind you this is the preseason, so no cap hits for dropping someone.

Date of trade: Fri, 08/12, 04:02:16pm EST

ARIZONA CHA CHAS traded:
Thames, Marcus ($2,490,000)

to Unexpected Pleasures for:
Miller, Trever ($680,000)

<----- about 10 minutes later ----------->

08/12 ARIZONA CHA CHAS added Lewis, Jensen
08/12 ARIZONA CHA CHAS dropped Miller, Trever

<------ and a couple minuted after that -------->

08/12 Unexpected Pleasures added Miller, Trever

Must be nice to be able to get a decent cheap DH for nothing without going through the FA pool......

Definitely sounds funky to me...and no, it's not typical. It CAN be legit, but def something to keep an eye on from those teams.

Hey Key...

It's Robert from GBBR and the LOTO TOUR. I picked up Crawford because somebody dropped him. I also got both Thames and Guerrero in the Draft. Since I had to restructure my pitching a bit to pick up Crawford, I had a choice to keep either Thames, who I would likely use vs the right side as a DH or Guerrero who I was going to use as a DH vs the leftside.

It's a hitters league and I have a Camden Yards, a Great American and a Chase Field in my division. I didn't want to drop Thames, who has value and take a chance that he would end up in my Division. So I offerred him to Edgecitytx for LH SP Maholm, who I lost out on in waivers. If I couldn't get Maholm, a cheap tough lefty to pair with Cliff Lee, I told Edge I would just deal him for the cap and to send anyone he wanted.

Everything is within the rules. I got the capspace I wanted, Edge got Thames and I kept Thames out of my Division. Both Edge and I are 9 year veterans of strat and this is the other team owner's first league.

I wanted to explain what I did so he could understand the motivation behind my decision. I don't know any of the other mgrs outside my Division and I knew Edge would get back to me quickly so I could make my other roster changes without waiting for a response.

This has been a very common occurence over the history of play. And I am sure that after all the leagues we have been in together after all these years, that you can vouch for mine and Edge's reputation as honorable.

I just don't want the league to go sour during preseason over a small roster move where both players were satisfied with what they received. I could have still kept Thames, who is very high value for his production. But both he and Guerrero together is overkill. I hope this response will satisfy the issue and we can all move on and enjoy our league.

Sincerely, Robert
