I was wondering if there has been any talk on the auto-draft portion that the next available player is taken salary wise rather than next available primary position being taken? I'm sure there are pros and cons either way, but was just curious.[/quote:69582936ed]

I like this idea. But how about tweaking it & setting up a ranking list like you do in the Live Draft. If you lose a player on your draft card, you get the highest ranked player on your overall ranking list not taken.

Can we look forward to this working as well as the "Your Record by Ballpark" tab?

Big con is you might end up with 6 1bmen and no other infielders.

If the list goes without regard to position and only salary, and not what's on the draft card, you could end up with no players at a position or 2, or 3, and an overabundance of other position. You don't get the guy you want, or a guy lower on the draft card, or even a lower value guy at the position you wanted.

If it slid down your draft list looking for a player not on another draft list, you could get your 18th pick on the list at your #2 pick.

If you meant you have a list of possibly hundreds of players as a backup to the draft list, or a 2nd and third option at each draft list slot, that could be a lot better.

IMO, outside of a live draft, there will always be gotchas.

A very good point but if implemented as an option to choose whether to take next most expensive at that position or next most expensive period then you go in with eyes open so could be an interesting option.

I like the idea of a ranking system so I have more control over who I get as alternate compensation.

There are a lot of improvements needed in autodraft in my opinion. One that would be very helpful would be ability to darft a player as a specific position. For example I draft Stan MusialI could specify which position I was targeting him. The 1948 10.86 card for example has CF as primary position. But who plays him in CF? It would be nice to specify I am drafting him as a LFer or a first baseman. Then if I do not get Musial my compensation would be the next best LFer or next base 1st baseman depending on what I specify. Important because I likely am drafting someone else at CF and missing on Musial results in 2 CFers and no LFer. People then accuse you of attempting to corner the market on CFers and refuse to trade to "teach you a lesson".
