LMBombers?

I don't remember who the LMBombers are, though he seems like a very helpful and knowledgable guy and is certainly welcome here....please refresh my memory LMBombers...

Outside our initial little circle, much has changed in reality and simulation baseball that will likely forevermore alter our fantasy world....

Curt has a new full-time job and a couple part time jobs that are eating up his time. He's told me he hopes to return for seasons 2 and onward, but can't commit for the first.

BK's intimate involvement with the StratOMatic competitor Simnasium -- which launched this weekend, so I guess I'm no longer bound to my confidentiality agreement -- will, I suspect, keep him from playing with us over here. I don't know that for a fact, and I will send him an email message today, but that's my guesstimate. The Colonel may be likewise occupied, I know he has several teams playing over there.

If we can track down other fun players like Pope and the like, I welcome that. I have talked to two other baseball fanatics -- Paul Gough, my buddy from The Hollywood Reporter; and TS Kelly, the brilliant online media specialist, who has played a cumulative Five seasons between SoM and Simnasium AND MADE THE PLAYOFFS EVERY TIME.

Adding Paul and TS will make eight (or seven, depending on LMBombers). We obviously need to reach out wider. But at least the ball is rolling now.

Expansion Team

Postby Ducapa » Sun Mar 26, 2006 10:27 am

I am in for an autodraft league if that is what will be used here. As much as I enjoyed using Penn's live draft site for the first time last year, I find that I don't have the time to commit to a draft over the period of several days to a week (I'm not a fan of proxies). So anyway, thanks for the invite SGTD!

Humble suggestions:

(1) Let's up the salary cap for the first league if we're going to use players from both leagues. Let's put ALL the best players in action. I'll try to figure out from the salary list where the cap should be.

(2) If we are going to use both leagues, we could autodraft it. I do, however, like seeing the direction other teams are going. Let me revive my one-round-a-day idea:

- Let's do the first two rounds here, snake-style, the old-fashioned way.
- After that, everybody private messages their picks to me once a day. (Say by 10 p.m. Eastern.) The priority order would be determined by:

1. The team that had lost out the most previous picks.
2. The team that has so far spent the least amount of money.

I will go ahead and make myself last in every night's priority order.

We could do two weeks (14 rounds) this way, including a unique ballpark. After that we autodraft it.

What do people think?

If you take the 120 highest paid pitchers (down to 2.51, including - exactly - 48 "pure relievers"), the 24 highest paid catchers (down to 1.58) and the 132 highest paid other hitters (down to 2.98), you come up with a total payroll of 1.30578 billion, or 108.815 million per team.

I would suggest setting the salary cap at $109 million per team. (Practically speaking, we'd have to make it a $200 million league and make sure people at all times leave $91 million salary remaining.)

I could be persuaded, though, to just make it a $100 million league.

let's keep the "draft" or player aquisition as simple as possible please, atleast the first go round. we've got n.l. and a.l. only leagues to come etc.

Looks Like Penngray Has Changed His Mind...

[quote:8a496224a0] draft site is ready for 2006 Mon Mar 27, 2006 08:11 am

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After some discussions I have opened up the draft site for 2006. Any problems you can email me, I wont be on these SOM boards at all so that is the only way to contact me. [/quote:8a496224a0]

One catch for me is that my new work system blocks access for me to Penngray's sites (anything, in fact, with "fantasy" in the URL - including the TSN Strat-o-Matic site, but not this forum). I can put in a bunch of proxies every morning, though.

$100 Million

Postby TomSiebert » Mon Mar 27, 2006 3:01 pm

I'm up for $100MM.

Since the PennGray site is back up, I think we should at least have a 16 round Live Draft, and I'm happy to go whole Hog(g) through 26 [25 players + stadium] if others are up for it.

But we gotta have at least a partially Live draft! That's a huge part of the fun for me! Plus, we gotta send Penngray a note of thanks for being such a good sport.
