Nah, I think the culprit is ss-1 plus normal on both sides.
Can't be the 3R, because Hal doesn't pinch-hit vs a lhp as well.

he is w vs leftys and since when does hal value defense?
it goes back to my point about subbing and bullpen mgt. bernie is doing a great job tackling bullpen mgt but I would love to see him move on to subbing and pinch hitting this area seems much easier to decifer and is also much more obviously wrong

Several times this season, I've noticed HAL lets Everett hit in the 9th, down by one, Frank Thomas riding the pines WAITING for the opportunity to ph vs. a LH. Sometimes I even bench Big Hurt vs. a RH starter in hopes he'll get to ph late against a LH closer. I get the situations I want, but HAL never delivers the logical move.
I've got Everett checked to avoid both sides, btw.
Slays me to no end.

you're right, Everett is weak vs lhp. But I really believe it's the defense rating that causes a problem.
Just for curiosity, I'll start a few games with Izturis (2e17) to see how Hal reacts.

of course think of real baseball for a sec if your team is down a run with the winning run on base 2 outs in the 9th is a mgr going to leave his no hit good glove ss in

Get any results with HAL on this? Everett still plays the whole game for me, every time.

As I wrote, I am starting with Izturis at the ss spot vs lhp, with "don't hit vs rhp" being active, and Hal has yet to pinch-hit for him too!!!!

just lost a one run game where hal pinch hit betamit for casy vs a righty than tyner for wikki than let jack (mendoza line) wilson hitting under .200 for me hit. I have since checked avoid both for wilson and dont pinch hit for everyone else
