H. Ramirez is a horrid fit for Fenway. He'll get rocked. If you insist on a cheap lefty to compliment your team, even Moyer is a better fit. For the same price though, I'd grab L. Hernandez if available.

check out the team now.

I was never going to use ramirez at fenway btw....

I'm trying to put together a staff to use at fenway, and then matchups on the road.

about catchers....any advice. If I downgraded from redmond??? to who???what about the importance of D??

any thoughts on where in the order to bat arod and lee against lefties?

hmmmmmm.

IMO I'm afraid Radke is a waste. The only reason is he priced as high as he is is his *rating. He is just too vulnerable to LHH. I'd go with guys like J.Williams, J.Thompson(hits but no power) and Moyer before Radke.

If you dead set on Redmond then at least dump Methaney. Redmond can play both ways and will go 140 games for you. Grab a sub million b/u and save another .5 mil at least. For your b/u settle on either D or O ... for a guy who might get 100ab's you can't expect both. As far as C's arm goes as long as it isn't above a +1 you can live with it. I'd be more worried about the patsa armed duo you have in the OF. Damon and Pods will cost you more runs than a +1 catcher(although you don't have the best holds from your SP's).

I am assuming you are going with a Lofton/Renteria platoon at DH. Not bad..although if Garabito is there I'd take him over Lofton and maybe Cattalanatto as well(cheaper and good clutch). I'd consider dumping both for Clark.

If you make the extreme salary adjustments mentioned here(Radke for Moyer, .50 c for Matheny and pick up Clark) you have around another 2.5 million bucks. You can then cut Mateo( certain death in fenway) and either go with 2 sub 2.5 guys(majewski, seanez, wuertz, etc) who give alot of pen innings or upgrade to one of the premier 4-5 million guys(Carrasco through Shields) who can end up with 150 IP's(or more if you tweek) and be a nice bridge btwn starter and closer.

BTW- I mention Ramirez only because he gets alot of DP's and can be an effective pitchers park or slanted LHH stadium starter.

I'm not dead set on redmond. Any other suggestions at c besides him.

mateo is gone.

I was worried about the pasta arms with pods and damon, but at least they have good range, right? you wouldn't go w/kotsay over damon would you??
I had kotsay but dumped him for damon.

on that note is a 4(0) better than a 2(+2)??? no way, right?

thanks....

I would try to grab Kotsay and move Damon to DH...if you can afford it. Is Taveras around? He and Sullivan make a nice platoon. Lofton is good...but can get hurt. You do need LHH's that get on base...Lofton is one and I'd keep him over Piedra in Fenway.

Here is another idea to confuse you even further(not my intention btw)...you could try Kendall at C. His arm is a certain negative but the dude can hit. He hits better than Redmond. You could keep Matheny for late inning replacement or save $ and get Ardoin/Torrealba for late innings. I have seen the plus arm starter/neg arm replacement work some strange magic before. What happens is your opponent smells blood and sets his running to aggressive or more and then late in the game you replacement is nailing key runners. This senario works much better when you have decent holds from your pitchers( mostly in the pen).

I'd drop Merker like a cheap girlfriend...go with Schoenwies(probably gone), Novoa or Romero instead.

Hampton is much better than Sosa. I've had Hampton win 15 plus games and is almost always winning more than losing in 2006 leagues.

Another factor we are not facing....what other parks are in the division?

Who are the key players in your division?

I disagree with this statement as Sullivan hits better vs RHP than Taveras. The only things Taveras has better than Sullivan is his arm and legs. Sullivan can be a full time CF, Taveras cannot.

All true...But I'd rather have taveras hitting vs. RHP in Fenway and other RH slanted parks and playing better D with Sully hitting against LHP(where he isn't great but is passable). Of course there are better CF vs. LHP but the budget doesn't really allow for them.
