MY FIRST TEAM - PLAY BALL!

Postby cminton » Thu Nov 03, 2005 11:01 am

18 of my 23 man 2001 team roster are still playing. Those 18 have a salary of $87.23MM. FIlling the remaining 7 slots with $0.50MM players gets me to $90.73MM

Well, I'd hate to penalize a team by having to lose a top player without some kind of recompense. Perhaps we could allow a replacement player to be named that would bring the team under 80m? He wouldn't be as good as the one dropped, but at least there would be some return. And let the owner decide what player to replace that gets him under the cap. Or more than one if the numbers are that high.

How about if I get to choose which players to drop from my 2001 roster as long as:

1. I only replace them with $0.50MM guys from 2005.
2. I only drop just enough to get under $80MM.

I just realized that my second restriction is a bit subjective and my first is a bit harsh...

I just entered my team and sort of randomly filled out the draft order after the first three (who are the only ones I want from that team). If I don't have a terrific waivers and frenzy, this team is in trouble!

Question:

Postby Jeepdriver » Thu Nov 03, 2005 12:48 pm

How is everyone checking to see if this year's crop of players had a card in '01/'02?

I'm very familiar with baseball, but knowing exactly if they started in, say '02 (not eligible to put on draft card) or '03 (eligible to put on draft card) is kinda maddening.

I just had a window with my new 05 team and another with my first 02 team open. Then went down the list on ym 02 team 1 by one. I ended up with 15 players taken but less than 20 mil to get 4 positions, 2 sp's, and 3 rp's (since my only 2 were really really bad .50's) Needless to say, my lineups is not featuring many good players right now, I'm praying that you guys free me of some of my burden.

I wasn't clear:

I know who currently has a card from my '01 team. I have 20 players from my '01 team to put on this team's draft card.

Therefore, I'll have 5 spots to put new players. My Q. is, How can I tell if those 5 new guys played in '02...OR If they started playing in '03. IOW, I can't put them as my 5 players if they had a card in '02 or eariler.

I hope that explains what I'm asking.

Jeep, these posts are from a previous thread. Try the links for confirming existence of 02 or 01 cards for players you want on your list.

Bunbury, you can use the links above to check if players had cards. In most cases it will be sufficient to just check the 2002 link, but be careful about any players that may have had 01 cards but no 02 cards (due to injury or lack of playing time in 02). [/quote:2bebac2e1b]

And yes you're correct -- you can't include them on your AD list if they had an 01 or 02 card.

I don't think we've resolved cminton's problem yet.

Charlie, is there anything you want to propose to fix this? I'll try to give it some more thought this afternoon.
