Count me in as another vote against such an option Bernie. Part of the skill involved in this game is putting together a draft card that plays to your stadium strengths. We've all had poor drafts that left us with teams ill suited to our stadiums and wished we were playing in a different park based on our draft and the availability of players in the FA pool. However, the ability to switch parks will only reward those managers not skillful enough to correctly organize a draft card, while penalizing those that do. And anyways, there's enough shennanigans already without the threat of some manager making changes to his home ballpark.

I appreciate the need to facilitate the Live Draft, but there must be another way?

[quote:2fa3a717eb="goredsox33"]I like the option of being able to change the ballpark after the draft, but I think that the option should end at the same time waivers begins.

As another poster stated, teams are built not only based on the home team ballpark, but the opponents ballparks as well.[/quote:2fa3a717eb]

And there is your answer. Bow down to the wisdom of goredsox.

Improving the Live Draft

Postby The Biomechanical Man » Thu Mar 06, 2008 7:29 am

Adding stadium picks within the live draft would remove the need for this post-draft stadium shuffle.

Furthermore, adding the ability to draft a unique stadium could make the live draft even [u:1eb5729b22]better[/u:1eb5729b22].

[quote:42d980d42c="blue turtle"]For what's it worth, I dislike this option. Free agent decisions are not made simply in consideration of the home park, but also those of the opponents, at least those in my own division. I understand your decision and the reasons behind it; I just don't like it.[/quote:42d980d42c]

I agree

Bernie - I have always been supportive of you as you struggle with the difficulties of managing this game. I rarely comment on these issues but this is a bad idea.

Moving players around before a season starts is one thing, but changing ballparks is completely unrealistic. Part of the challenge in real baseball is dealing with your playing environment - which does not change. With this change the game completely departs from realism.

I understand why this is in place at this time, based on your earlier post. If the underlying problem can be adjusted so that the game can return to its original form, the stadium "frenzy" could be included as an option similar to the salary cap and DH options that are set as the league is formed.

Otherwise, I hope it is removed as soon as possible.

My two pennies are with the majority here. Bad idea. Bad.

24 hours after the draft, ok, but not up until 11:59, please no.

I agree that this new option is not a good idea. Too many decisions are made based on your opponent's ballparks to allow them to change it right up to the last minute.
