good 07 strat pitchers?

I should have looked at what his stadium was. I did not know he was in a homer park. My bad. I was just offering my experiences with those players. Good luck.

Pitcher's in Pitcher's Parks

Postby STEVEPONEDAL » Fri Jun 20, 2008 11:58 am

Any good rules of thumb? I haven't played in Pitcher's parks yet, but would like to.

Any reason to get pitcher's with different charachteristics fom those in Hitter's parks?

Thanks

[quote:55638e5089]........lefties tend to get hammered in this game....... [/quote:55638e5089]

I've seen this notion in other posts as well. And its what I would have believed given the teams I have put together in the new game. I play in pitchers parks and I shoot for an average among the hitters of 30 hits, 40 OB and 45 TB's against RHP. It's easy to do against LHP but if I want great D, BA and doubles I need a couple of platoons to get there vs. RHP.

However, I averaged the L/R hitter splits from 6 leagues that have been completed.
72 teams and 400,000 AB's:
[code:1:55638e5089]
BA OBP SLG

vs. LHP 270 336 440

vs. RHP 270 343 444
[/code:1:55638e5089]

Lefties aren't getting pounded in this sample. Focus on your division. If all 3 teams are heavily balanced to hit LHP, sure, don't have any of those. But don't avoid a pitcher only because they face first when they are winding up. To the topic, Gabbard.

i'm 6 games into the season and my "best" pitcher, B. Webb, isn't playing so great. I was just wondering if eventually he will start playing as good as he should, or if this means that he doesn't fit well with my team. I was expecting more out of him, and don't know if i should wait to see if he gets on a hot streak or not.

You have to stick with him. He may never give you the type of numbers he produces in real life, but he is much, much better than almost all other starters. But you have to remember that he is facing better lineups than in real life. Also you probably are just having a stretch of bad luck with him. Luck is always involved! He will turn it around. That is my three cents.

So this means he has pitched a max of 2 games. And you are ready to give up on him???

Just like real life..strato players have ups and downs...

at the end of the season, most likely his #'s will be near his real life prod.

Even if this was midseason you wouldn't want to drop a pitcher with a 1.35 whip. IMHO you would probably want to look at run support and defense first.

Also, if you do want to make roster changs try to make a trade first. Using free agency too often devalues the quality of your team.
