Best CF for Great American

Unless there's nothing better, you're wasting money on Capps by paying for the C6 and using his R1. I'd take Visick's advice and upgrade to an R2. Plenty of quality guys in that price range.

Berkman is definitely a platoon unless you're saving cash. His defense isn't pretty and his lefthand column has decent OB, but is poor otherwise. And since you're thinking of platooning him, you may want to explore better/cheaper platoon options. Hawpe, Griffey, Stairs, Doumit, Nady, Morales, Raburn may fit.

As per catcher. Bowen's cheap for a reason. I wouldn't want any 'w' on your team so Burke's out from the start. If you have the money to spend, out of that group I'd pick Johjima.

Originally I had Capps and Raffy Perez as a tandem of set-up and closer vs. R and vs. L. Should I go back to that? Otherwise, I have Cordero to close and Capps, O'Flaherty, Beimel, and Sosa in the 'pen. The available R2s that could replace Capps (who is a C4, not a C6) are Moylan, Gregg, Herges, Franklin, Zumaya, Gardner, Pena, Brocail, Heilman, and Guerrier. Most of those guys have too many #s.

I'm not completely sold on a platoon yet. Hawpe is not available, Griffey probably isn't either. Doumit is a bit too cheap I think. I might go for a Morales / Matt Diaz platoon. In fact, yes, that's what I'll do.

I know Visick doesn't like to have a "dead zone" in the line-up, but Schneider/Mathis doesn't bother me too much. I mean, you have to go cheap at at least one position with an $80M, and I'm picking catcher. That is, unless, it's not worth it to have 5 starters like Hamels, Escobar, Wang, Laffey, and Lincecum, who are about the best mid-level pitchers available that are stingy on HRs. If I can scrape up $$ by dropping Lincecum or Laffey, I was thinking about Johjima since he has good defense, ok power, and a 1 injury rating.

If you're leaning towards Johjima, I would look @ Buck instead.

Max BPHR's BOTH ways.

I've made quite a few changes, and may actually be done playing around for now, but I'm not sure. I'm still up in the air about two things:

DH: HanRam vs. Jack Cust. I think either will be pretty good.
Decent #5 SP (Laffey/Lincecum) vs. super cheap SP and upgrade at C

Hey Aero...I'm at work so can't access your link, but I noticed you mentioned using Diaz in a platoon.

He's actually a great cheap option to go both ways if you need some cap space too. Always seems to hit over .300 with good pop.

Yeah, I like Diaz as a platoon with Kendry Morales in RF, but I don't know if Diaz has what it takes to play both ways at Great American. Morales probably doesn't have it, either, so I'm probably stuck in a platoon unless a few others really believe in Diaz as an every day player. I could use him every day in RF and then drop Morales for a good catcher like people were talking about (Johjima, Buck, etc.).

if buck is available i would get him. imo u dont need 5 good starters to get by i think u can do it with 4 good ones and someone cheap. the 4 you have now are very good and will get the job done. also, imo, i dont think diaz can play both ways. the platoon u have right now seems good enough to me and if u just dump lincecum/laffey and get buck. he will hit u plenty of homers in your park.

I dropped Mathis, Schneider, and Lincecum and picked up Buck, Damian Miller, and Scott Baker. I hope Scott Baker is a serviceable #5 starter. I think he will be. I've only got $10,000 left, so I think I might be done. It's great hearing all of these suggestions, and I appreciate everyone's input!!!

You're right. Some pretty good performances, though it looks like he was the focal point of the offense on that first team in Safeco (lead team in RBIs, I believe). Every time he played, though, it looked like a terrible BB/K ratio, something I'm not a fan of. I think I'll probably stick with the Morales/Diaz split, especially now that I have John Buck to catch. I'll give everything one last thought before I start on Monday, I'm sure!!
