Real Teams

Postby Delbird » Wed Mar 04, 2009 8:35 am

While we wait for the 2008 season to become available, I've been thinking about this some - any consideration to making the league a $100M league instead of $80M? That could provide additional flexibility within our own team roster for doing drop/add transactions during the season while also ensuring we can fit most, if not all, of our primary team players on the roster. If you've done this before at $80M with no problem, then maybe it isn't a big deal, but I thought I'd ask. Without knowing the salaries yet within our teams, its difficult to know how tight the $80M will even be.

Thanks. Delbird

Hi Delbird,

We have always used the $80 mil. cap and not had any real problems.

For reference, of the 30 teams last year, only 3 had a total salary over $80M

Boston Red Sox - $86.18 (27 players)
Colorado Rockies - $85.00 (33 players)
Cleveland Indians - $85.00 (29 players)

I know we'll be using some "supplemental players", but I think Page2 is right. There really shouldn't be any problems.

Thanks Page2 and AeroDave, sounds cool. Based on the 2008 salaries that just came out, my Red Sox entry has a total salary of 90.7M. On a separate but related note - will the drop penalty be 5-10-20 or a set number from the start?

Hi Delbird,

It will be the 5-10-20 for the drops.

That happens, just get yourself a nice sub 2.00 catcher, or sub 4.00 if he's played for your franchise and you'll be fine. :)
