I can't make it, but.... will there be any way to see some of the celebrations or speeches? Will there be any footage on Youtube? Or on the website???

My brother and I have been playing strat since the 1970 season. If there was any realistic way I could come to the celebration, I would certainly come!

I hope it is a great, heart-warming celebration!

Going to check with the wife and see what I can do...

Start time is a "bit" early as I might have to bring my 3 year old.

Apparently SportingNews.com will have a table in the "partners" section of the event, so you'll be able to find me there starting from around 1pm on.

Sykes25 - re: your 3 year old - isn't he playing yet?? ;)

My brother and I started playing when he was 7 and I was 10! 3 is a little early, but hey, you gotta start sometime!

Are you intending on wearing a helmet, Bernie? Just in case you meet any glass doors?!

by all rights I would be there, and bring my boxes and boxes of old card sets, some of which haven't even had the perferations seperated since the online version came along. I'll be there in spirit. hopefully some day they can have a west coast version, although I do need one day to make the pilgrimage to glenn's head/mecca.

"he's meat", I concur. I would love to make the pilgrimage - it's just not happening this year, and February would always be a tough time of year for me.

Maybe we can start a "pilgrimage" thread for people to post when they are going down east - maybe if enough of us go at one time we could start up a game or 2 there "on location"! :)

Question for the whole group - apart from this special occasion, do they have some permanent displays or points of interest for any visiting strat fanatics? It would be fun if you could arrange to play a game against another visiting fan. By the way, I think it would be interesting (being a total geek) to learn about how the founders came up with their idea, and how they developed it - esp. since it started long before the age of PC's, and at the dawn of the mainframe computer age. When you think about it, THAT is kind of amazing!

Having said that, I know the game was simpler back then. (But, to say it again, to do it in that early or pre-computer age is still amazing). When my brother and I started playing, they didn't have separate cards for batting vs Left and vs. right, or pitching vs. left and vs. right. But, IMO, it was always a fabulous game, even in that basic form!!!!
