Coors Philosophy?

Postby NFLed1 » Fri Apr 28, 2006 12:46 pm

I'm not seeing nearly enough ballpark homerun on offense. Pitching looks very good in that respect but on offense Crisp, Grudz, Furcal, and C.Wilson have very little # and that's way too many low # players in my view for a team in any park with high HR chances. Who to replace depends upon what's available but I would replace at least two of those if not more, it's probably easy to replace Crisp and Wilson as they are outfielders and it's usually easier to find high # outfielders available. 2B and SS are very tough, if Kent or Utley are available at 2B they work well but there's not much at SS.

I have tried to get Kotsay for Wilson and Javier Valentine for Closser on Waivers, but don't expect too much because I pick last.

That being said, I still need people to get on base for those BP# to be any good to me. I will hit a lot of solo blasts, but so will everyone else.

Geekor,

I was looking at your Coors team and Murton seems to be tearing it up,
how are you using him?
Is he DH or are you using him in left field?

haha he's in LF, I have a Garabito/Young platoon at DH plaiyng the leadoff spot. That platoon is 2nd on my team in runs (3 behind B Giles) with 104 runs, to go with 7hr's and 50 rbi's. Not a bad platoon for under 4 mil (obvioulsy if E Young was N powered it would be better, but oh well). Murton is 2nd in errors on my team though, and a 4 in LF :? But his bat is too good at a good price to pass up. Batting him 4th vs lefites and 6th vs righties.

Things will Change of course, but this is how I see this lineup right now.
I am not overly happy with it, but waivers will allow some options.

VS rhp
1. Furcal (SS)
2.Wilson (LF)
3. Glaus (3b)
4. Tracy (1b)
5. Gibbons (RF)
6. Murton (DH)
7. Crisp (CF)
8. Pratt (C) This will definitely be a better right handed catcher
9. Gruzalanek (2b)

VS Lhp

Furcal
Crisp
Gibbons (1b)
Murton(LF)
Glaus
Thomas(DH)
Wilson
Pratt
Gruzalanek

I have Gruzalanek, Wilson, and Closser on Waivers for Utley, Kotsa, and Stinnett respectively.

thomas is all walks and Hr's, if he's gonna stay he needs ot be #2 vs lefties, and Crisp really doesnt do much vs lefties, he needs to be much much lower. something like furcal, thomas, murton, glaus, gibbons vs L that is.

Crisp with his good clutch is a good #5 vs righties, should be higher vs R either way.

Geekor,

Would you trade Coco for Jeff Kent in this situation?

assuming you are playing CRisp in Cf (which is what it looks like) I would do it Just make sure if 1 MI spot is a 3 , the one next it it better at least be a 2.

puckin- congrats on getting most of your picks- including Heilman :)... there are plenty of Coors pundits out there- who will tell you to do one thing or another... of course no one's even played a full season yet- I would chime in though in that I think yoy have too much pitching at this point... I usually go with decent SPs and relievers or cheap SPs and stud relievers- its mostly a matter of preference. I guess we didnt overlap on our hitting choices since I'm in petco- but will happy to watch papi Ortiz hit a few in your park ... good luck with waivers
