It's taking too long for leagues to full

Postby Whamo » Fri Jul 22, 2011 6:47 pm

It seems like I've been waiting forever for the 24 team league to fill up. Leagues used to be smaller, and fill up quicker. It detracts from my enjoyment of the game.

As someone who is [i:dc0a1fb50d]trying[/i:dc0a1fb50d] to play for the first time,I gotta tell you, this is extremely frustrating.I've played all kinds of fantasy baseball through the years, and I wanted to give SOM a shot after finding my old '73 card set in the garage.I signed up for the trial league, and when that didn't fill,I bought 2 70's teams and can't find a league. As an outsider,it seems ridiculous that there are multiple leagues forming with one team each.Didn't really want a 2010 team as I really don't follow the american league, but it may be my only option if I want to play anytime soon.Apparently,I would need to pay again because the credit I have for another '70's team can't be used for a different game.I'm a guy who would probably get hooked, but I'm losing interest after 3+ weeks of minimal activity.Just giving the point of view of a potential new player.

I'm not sure why you can't find a league. There is a DH league called the Dick Williams Memorial League with 7 teams loaded already and a no DH league called 70's Again with 5 teams loaded. Both of these leagues are 80M cap.

Here is a link to the available leagues: http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/70s/draft/league_join_list_all.html

I have been playing this game for around 5 years. That is 5 years longer than I have followed Baseball in the last 5 years ( have to look up the stadium of the teams I have in theme leagues because Pittsburg no longers plays at Three Rivers and Atlanta has moved away from Fulton County and plays in the parking lot next to it now as I have been told.) . I just play the Strat game. It has nothing to do with "real" baseball. Just read the cards, figure out if you want to set it up to pitch more and hit less or hit more and pitch less and pick your home park for the team you set up for.
This game is about Strat-O-Matic Baseball and you set it up and run the team you want to. Did you know that the Milwaukee Brewers don't play in the American League anymore. Robin Yount would have killed the Reds!
It is about building your team and GOOD LUCK! My best advice is get in leagues with socialchiro and vizick. That leaves only 9 teams you have to beat!

Keep an eye on the league list that LMBombers linked to you. In the 70s and 80s games, the auto leagues always fill up the quickest.
As I type this message, league "TSN_20401" has only 2 teams. However when a team is created, most people use the default option of joining an autoleague. When you notice TSN_20401 starting to get full, you can switch your team out of the league you are in to that one. I'm certain it'll fill up faster than the one you are already in.
