The truth may be that most of us will stick around, despite our whinin'. But there is such a thing as goodwill in business. Think of the folks you deal with that because of monopoly circumstances are able to sit back and smugly ignore customer emotions: cable TV companies, electric utilities...the IRS. While I think Bernie has generated a good deal of well-deserved goodwill over time, and while TSN gets props for bringing him on full time, TSN should still be judged by how it responds to us in the wake of this fiasco. This has hardly been a marketing coup! And I'll feel a lot better about plopping down another $25 in the future if I feel TSN's response has been reasonable and appropriate. They do this to make money. Whatever their profit margin may be, they've surely got one (and they're probably doing this upgrade in order to increase that margin). Since we don't stand to share in the proceeds, but rather have had legitimate consumer expectations thwarted, some sort of gesture should be made to assuage our angst. If my cable goes out for two days, an adjustment is made to my monthly bill to compensate me for that, even if with the TV out I have an opportunity to clean my garage! Of course, the cable company has to do so because of regulatory laws (certainly wouldn't if not forced to). But I'd feel a lot better about TSN if I didn't have to think of it as a necessary evil, as I do the IRS and the power company...
