Well, I think I qualify as rookie. Just found this place today. :)

I played the board game for years and for some reason I decided to see if there were any online leagues.

Questions: Do I need to order software to play in these leagues or is it all done over the web?

What season is this league? (did I miss that part?)

Help a true rookie out.

You just need to purchase the 2007 season under stratomatic and the web engine(HAL) who can be a real Richard handles everything else. It has most of the players from 2007.

I actually purchased the 2007 game a couple of day ago. I'm hoping it will show up tomorrow or Wednseday.

Show up? Im referring ot the online version which shows up the secound you buy it and you can draft a team and join a league.

Irahays, you might want to get your feet wet a little before joining a theme league. The draft for this league is even different than for a regular league and if you haven't played on line yet I would hold off on a theme league right off the bat.
