I understand the problem. Kudos to Bernie for stepping up to the plate to resolve the problem.
Unfortunately, his mea culpa is too little too late. As Bernie has obviously heard, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Apparently, the "upgrade" to the lineup function that caused the problem was not sufficiently beta tested prior to implementation. Expediency (well sort of; how many months did we play the game without this improvement being made?) trumped common sense in the name of making an extremely minor upgrade to the game. After so many months of playing without this upgrade, why was it suddenly so urgent to implement it that one would forego beta testing? Moreover, although I'm no computer expert, how difficult could it have been to properly implement the change, as the back up function is already in effect for every other position? Although I like Bernie a lot, have a great deal of respect for him and believe him to be an honorable and stand up guy, the truth is painfully clear: he blew it. It was a careless and stupid mistake that easily could have been and should have been avoided.
The supposed "solution" to the problem only makes matters worse and reeks of adolescent gamesmanship: "If we can't all agree, let's just 'do it over'", no matter who's affected by the outcome and however unfair that may be. Many games, including mine last night, where my team was on the road, were not impacted by the error.
WHY SHOULD GAMES UNAFFECTED BY THE PROBLEM BE REPLAYED?
Once again, expediency, the initial cause of the problem, rears its ugly head. Apparently, it is easier and quicker to just replay a whole league of nightly games rather than to do the right thing and identify the affected games and only replay those games impacted by the error.
TO WIPE OUT GAMES THAT WERE UNAFFECTED BY THE PROBLEM IS LIKE USING A NUCLEAR BOMB TO KILL A FLY!
It is nothing more than overkill for the sake of expediency.
In the time I've been involved in online Strato I've come to expect two things from Bernie: hard work and doing the right thing. Sadly, he has badly missed the mark on both counts this time around. We all deserve better.
So I'm forced to take the only action I can:
UNLESS BERNIE REINSTATES LAST NIGHT'S RESULTS IN GAMES UNAFFECTED BY HIS MISTAKE, I'M DONE! YES, THAT'S RIGHT, I QUIT. YES, I'M VOTING WITH MY FEET AND WALKING AWAY! ONE CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH OF GETTING JERKED AROUND AND I'VE HAD IT.
HAL can manage my team. At least he won't care if he gets jerked around. - Bernie W
