Well, I'm kind of one of the dropouts. Keep in mind the most teams I would ever have going at one time is 4 teams. I'm down to 2 at a time now.
I LOVE this game. But I chose to cut back to save time and money. Ironically one of the competing interests is strat hockey! After a long absence from that game, I am getting the new set that is about to come out. As for the other things, there were some major family commitments lately. Also, I have been pouring a great deal of my psyche into the return of my beloved Winnipeg Jets hockey team - returning to the NHL after a 16 year absence. With apologies and thanks to the Atlanta Thrashers fans, this has been a huge thing for me!
As for strat baseball, I have really enjoyed diving into 2 keeper leagues, along with many of the esteemed veterans on this thread.
I WILL be getting back into regular league play and theme leagues after the seasons play out for the keeper leagues (almost done - tho I think one of them we play out 2010 twice). But my budget and time is not going to be as high as it was for 2009 and prior years. I miss it, and will get back into it soon, but I am rationing my time and money more than I did.
Hope to see you all in a league or 2 over the next month or so!
Cheers,
Geoff Brookes
Ps and by the way, Winnipeg sold out the maximum number of season ticket sales (13,000) in 3 days (pre-sale to former AHL ticket holders) and 2 minutes (for general sales to non former ticket holders). I was a lucky purchaser. The online waiting list for season ticket purchases got as high as 16,000 people, but was capped at 8,000 people since that was the largest number that "might reasonably be able to get seasons tickets in their lifetime". I got my picture on the front page of the daily newspaper as one of the lucky ticket purchasers! Welcome to Canada's true national sport! And Winnipeg is as close as you could get to being the hockey equivalent of the Green Bay Packers - small market, northern, cold in winter, and crazy about their major league sports team!!! :)
