Mueller or Youkillis

Postby kimkrichbaum2 » Sun Aug 13, 2006 6:59 pm

One last decision for my Petco team. I have strong starters, Low whip high HR releivers who are helped by Petco (Cordero is my closer). I have good average and OB with most of my hitters, and two strong natural HR guys both ways. My defense is weak, two 3's in moddle infiled, but good error numbers on most of team.
The question, do I want Mueller or Youkillis at 3b

Muehler +'s - slightly more hits, defense 2 (Youkillis is 4 with similar error number) and 1 INJ rating (Youkillis is a two).

Youkillis +'s - Considrable more OB, especially against lefties, there are now only 3 lefty starters in my division, although lots in the league. My division could change too, there has been a lot of movement. MUCH less DP's than Mueller. And a R rather than a S. That is an advantage in my division, I Only have 2 or 3 Righties hitting against RHPs. And I think that makes me vulnerable to reverse rightties, which one of my division mates is full of. He costs about .47 less.

So what do you think, Muieller or Youkillis?

Hello from a rival back East.
My case for Mueller:

My survey shows 39 RHP's and 17 LHP's in the league (not counting the 50 cent guys.) 10/4 in your division.
You only have 1 player (Eckstein) who has more than 600 AB's. Not sure you want to add Youkliss' injury roll to that.
You have loads of OB as it is so Youkliss is superfluous.
Having a 4 at third along with the 3's up the middle .........?

An S1R vs. an R1L isn't going to make that much of a difference against Jerlins' reverse righties. Besides, you've got Justin Davis to fire at his lefties. :)

Hey now, be nice to me!!! I have my share of RH's. But back to the thread.....

It really is a tough call, Mueller is a DP waiting to happen, while Youkalis has the bad D, higher injury rating, and an OBP that is full of walks. I have to agree wit Palmtana though. You have enough 15 game players, your D up the middle are all 3's (which btw, is not a good recipe on any team), so if given a choice of only those 2, I'm picking Mueller as well.

Thanks for all the good feedback. I think I will go with Mueller, unless there is acompelling use for the .46 of price differential. The huge differential in DP's is the only reason I'm still a little unsure. I may try to plan on hittling Mueller 6th or 7th, right after my power guys, who have hopefully cleared the bases :D .
