[quote:171849318b="markp65"]I got over my addiction but in its 2002-05 heyday, I used a formula which worked pretty well...
PETCO OFFENSE - Select players with...
1. High percentage of SLG from 2B and 3B rather than HR
2. High OBP, but from BA rather than walks
3. * steal rating - to avoid GDP, NOT to steal
4. Highest clutch rating
5. Lowest incidence of GBA
PETCO PITCHING
- Draft 8 super-cheap situational starters contoured to division, league, including some overbalanced, some balanced but BPHoRrific...
- Draft 3 innings-devouring stud relievers
- Otherwise, try to spend as much as possible on offense
Caveat: If you play against teams who balance their lineups, you're doomed in hitters' parks on the road.
PETCO DEFENSE
1/2's at 2B, SS and CF, 3's otherwise. 4 okay at a corner or two.
I played competitive strat with this general approach. I probably undervalued the importance of the HR and the need for at least one lights-out SP, especially come playoff time. But the fun of playing Petco is trying to ply extreme measures in an extreme park to tip the odds your way.
Wondering what other former/current Petco addicts have tried.[/quote:171849318b]
i love strat and all , but you have WAYYYYYY too much time on your hands.:)
