I have been continually punished in auto leagues
In 5 auto leauges 3 finished with 2 missing the playoffs and one lost finals 2 ongoing one out of the running the other opens 0-3 total record 318-310
In 9 theme or tournament teams 4 finished one champ one lost finals of the 5 ongoing 4 1st place teams 572-532 and that includes a 65-97 disaster
for some reason really struggling in auto leagues

I know it sounds like total insanity, but could it be that among the lower-caste newbs and rubes who play the auto leagues that there are more than a few managers who are (gasp!!) every bit as competent as the vaunted guru-like old guard vet god he-man club deities of the advanced leagues!?!
No, no, no. Couldn't be THAT!

I think the competition is as good on both sides. Last year I played mostly in Autolegues. This year I haven't yet, but still I really think that managers are as good in either type of leagues.
Perhaps the main difference is that it is more likely to find in an autoleague the manager(s) that due to a slow start turn trigger friendly and reduce their payroll through endless drops/pickups that they essentially "give" the wildcard to another team in their division.
But as far as the level of competition goes from my POV, every bit as wicked, every bit as good

I think another reason the competition is as good in autoleagues is the fact a lot of the teams in them have one, maybe two teams only, allowing them to spend a little more time fooling around with lineups and such vs their competition. I'm sure a lot of folks in the theme/invite only leagues have five or more teams going at once.
I know I've found myself yearning to build a team each week, and because of that, I just quickly glance at the box scores, rarely if ever do anything but replace an injured player in my lineup, and then bitch and moan to myself why I'm not doing as well as last year, when I know last year I paid attention to each league I was in.
Seems after the actual building of the team, I lose interest, and the team is basically on cruise control.
