Basically you get to pick a letter from the alphabet and can only use players whose last name startes with that letter. For example if you picked "B" your lineup could be

CA- Barajas
1B-Berkman
2B-Belliard
SS-Betancourt
3B-Beltre
LF-Bay
CF-Beltran
RF-Burnitz
DH-Branyan

all the details not worked out as to who gets what letter but just an idea, any interest???

Are you sure that the player pool is deep enough once you get past the 4-5 most common letters?

tried to get something similar going little interest but I think this format works I will play it if you can get it going

It is, but just barely.

Letters with at least 5 starting pitchers:

A B C D E F G H K L M O P R S T W


E and K drop out at catcher (Estrada and Kendall only)

No Rs at 1B

No T's at 2B

No O's in CF

There is a glitch that won't allow me to sort RP's by name so there may or may not be limitations there also.

So that leaves 12 letters, some with much deeper pools than others.

rgimbel's theme would probably work better since it is not as restrictive.

what if you were allowed 2 letters?

I thought a lot about this league and came up with what I thought was a workable theme I got it about half filled you can run with it again if you like 2 letters gives the early pickers a huge advantage that is why I made one letter for hitters and one for pitchers with the additional 7 player live draft.

thanks for the advice much appreciated. Doesn't seem to be much interest in this type of league though. maybe I'll try something else. Have you done one with all players under 2mil (or 3mil)??? any interest in that.

2 rounds on the board any players you want serpentine draft than auto draft all players except those two under 2.5 million

We did an Alphabet theme before, but of a different sort. Basically, everyone signed up in a spot, 1-12, and picked a letter of the alphabet and a lotto number. The place you sign up in is your place. Whoever won the lotto number, got his letter to start the draft in the 1st spot.

the draft went as follows, you go through the Alphabet in order, if I start with D, the next person has to draft an E, the next a F, etc, etc.

If you alreadt drafted a letter, and the same letter came back to you, you could pass to the next letter, but only1 skip (i.e if I already drafted an A, B and C, and A came back to me, I could skip A to B, but not to C). Everyone also got 2 free passes, to use anytime to skip the current letter they land on. You can use a Letter pass and a Free pass in the same turn (above example, I could use letter pass on B and free pass on C to get to D).

After the draft, you can add and pickup free agents, but only those with the same letter, (I could drop Berkman for Bagwell for example). You CANNOT drop a A for a M then a M for an A, it has to be a stright up drop/pickup.

Anyone game for that?
