I'm guessing that Sporting News is paying a licensing fee to Strat so a free league is not going to happen.

Not only the license but you get what you pay for. Free games would mean people playing who will or may not even finish the season. Fly by nights.
25 bucks 162 games with all stats done for you 8 weeks 3.00 a week. I'll save on one mocha frappacino a week and play one team. My vote even if it were possible, is no thanks.

I doubt a free league will come anytime soon as per Stoney's comments. It would be nice to take the sting a little bit out of the pricing. $25 is a pretty nice dinner somewhere for most people.
However, it's a supply and demand world out there. If no one signed up to play, TSN would be forced to lower prices or drop strato completely. The steep prices do have some good benefits. It keeps out the morons!!!!! Foul mouthed punk kids and other wackos are hesitant to spend $25 on a SOM team. That is a good thing. These boards stay relatively clean compared to other free fantasy sites!!!! :D

It is about the same cost as it does to purchase a team on the pay-fantasy sports sites like Yahoo Plus, CBS Sportsline & even the TSN Ultimate Football $24.99 to $19.99.

Pony up $25 and if you are good enough (make the finals) TSN will give you a free league just like you asked for.

2003 has a free trial league, 21 games only, they did do that before. Only allowed 1 per membership.

Pay $25.00 to play once. Win. Get two no charge credits. 3 season average cost $8.33. Keep winning and pretty soon they are paying you to play.
