I fell a couple of games short with Torii, but it certainly wasn't his fault. In Comerica, he hit 263/320/459 (34 doubles, 6 triples, 21 HR, 75 R, 97 RBI), and threw in 34 SB (albeit 15 CS.) Plus he (unsurprisingly) took home a Gold Glove. He's more versatile this year than he's normally been in the past, when he was very ballpark-HR dependent. Now he only has 2 ballpark HR vs. R, and although he has 7 vs. L, he hits them well even if you throw those out.
He didn't get hurt too much in this season (595 PA), but when he was, I had Sullivan to back up. I didn't feel like Torii's injury factor was really hurting me that much, since I was okay with Sullivan playing, and when Torii [i:74a9c04c56]wasn't[/i:74a9c04c56] hurt, Sullivan still had plenty of other things to contribute: pinch-hitting, pinch-running, and subbing for other injured OFs. And Sullivan isn't the only bench guy capable of giving you all those things. So covering for Torii is not all that tough.
I just can't see paying Wells' price tag; seems like you'd have to be in some crazy lefty-laden division.
