In my limited time playing Strato online, I have found it difficult to arrange trades and when I have been successful in working a deal it was one that usually corrected a minor flaw in my lineup. However, I recently acquired Jorge Cantu via trade and had my winning percentage go from .485 without him to .681 with him, so it made me wonder if anyone else had stories about trades that turned their franchises around in midseason.

the only time it really yeilded different was my first ATG2 team. I ended up trading P Alexander + Doby for W Mays and some schmuck SP. The dropped my underperforming McGuire (1b) for a platoon and dropped the schmuck for Kaat.

My team went from down by 6 in the division, to winning by 5. Went on to win a championship, Kaat never lost a game after I picked him up, and Mays went on a tear.

Because of the salary cap, it really is true in TSN-SOM that the best trade is one that helps both teams. Since the pricing is quite accurate and most teams are right up against the cap, you can't "steal" a good player for nothing. But, what you can do is give up a good player and get a player back who is equally "good" in the abstract, but who fits your situation better. For instance, I had Burnett in a pitcher's park, and another owner had Colon in a hitter's park. When we made the trade, Burnett was 1-9 with a 6.42 ERA for me, and Colon was 3-5 with a 5.00 ERA for him. Afterwards, Colon had a 2.56 ERA and 1.01 WHIP for me; Burnett had a 3.36 ERA for him. I missed the WC by 5 games, but who knows; Burnett was [i:194ab04d0e]so[/i:194ab04d0e] bad for me that maybe I could have squeezed in had I made the trade earlier :cry:

Here's a true old-school one from 2001: Jermaine Dye for Orlando Palmeiro, Mike Darr and Jose Jimenez. I was in Coors, where Dye was a great power hitter, but I already had plenty of those; what I needed was a leadoff man and a closer. Darr solved the leadoff problem by hitting 336/408/467 for me, and Jimenez was a good Coors fit who ended up saving 15 games in half a season, with a 3.37 ERA.
