Game 4, I'm down 2 games to 1 and trailing in the game. Bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, Lefty Eddie Guardado on in relief with Jason Michaels coming to the plate. Michales is a 2L and batted .357 for the series - but HAL plays a "hunch"???? and pinch hits with Scott Hatteberg? He is a 2R and is was hit only AB of the series. Did HAL think it was little league and everyone needed to play?? Just wondering if anyone has any idea why HAL would put an inferior LH batter in to face a LH pitcher with the game on the line!

Clutch, maybe?

Michaels (-6) vs Hatteberg (+6).

Good show in that league Dins. Big has a very strong team.

i'm not justifying the move, but the only thing i can think is guardardo is a 1R and michaels is a righty whereas hatteburg is a lefty.

a 1r is barely anything, he actually gives up more OB vs righites, more SLG vs lefties.

Best I can figure is what HAL alwyas does, he loves the long ball. Michaels is W powered and has no chance of a HR. Hatt, besides the +6 clutch, is also N powered, has .25HR + 1 BP HR. Clutch + HR possiblilty = HAL's choice, not mine, and not yours.

Hal does love the long ball.

Should I post a game in which Hal yanked Pedro after 3 1/3 in Petco to bring in Heilman in an eventual 1-0 loss? Relief normal/Pedro slow hook?

Yes, Pedro gave up the lone run.
