Hoping that I can get some opinions on southpaw starters. I currently have Pettite on a team but was thinking there may be a better and cheaper option or two out there. Being in my first 06 league any help would be appreciated. I am in a pretty lefty dominant ( hitter wise ) division with 3 lefty hitter friendly parks with one neutral. Mulder, Rodgers, Kazmir are some that are available !!!! Thanks Guys !!! Loobee

I've been favoring RH parks so I don't have the need for LHP, but I do and have had some luck w/ Davis.

Can you send a link so we can see the team? thanks. Depending on the park. I have had no luck with Mulder lately. I have Rogers on three teams and he is doing well in Coors, where he has a 3.79 ERA. I like Zito, been consistent with me. In PetCO go with Vargas - cheap and he does very well. I also have had little luck with Kazmir. I checked his card and he looks pretty good but for some reason he was mediocre against LH and got whacked against RH in the two leagues I had him. Davis is not as good as last year but good. I also had great luck with Redman in PetCo and of course in the right park paired with Randy Johnson Hampton can do .500 as a fifth starter.

Most of the decent cheap lefty starters give up HRs to RHs, and given your home park, I would avoid those guys....

a few idas

Frst off, you should be more worried about RH hitters because I can tell you they hit foraverage at Citizen's Park. I have thatvery problem.

I generally like Petitte. He usually is consistent. You have to have one stud there. I guess I figure Moyer is okay and Glavine is a reverse LH and should be okay, although I have had no luck with him at all.

You have to check and see the BP HRs. 15 on both sides is a lot.

I have used Fassero, forgot what his numbers are in BP HRs.

I am not sure the RH pitchers will work here. You probably do not want a reverse RH pitcher.

I don't know who is available. You could check Lowry. As I said though Rogers works at Coors a 15 and 15 HR park. Is he available?

You probably don't need much change here. A little tweaking.

The guy who I am not sure about is Edmonds. Sure he has a lot of BP HRs but he is a LH who likes LH. I think you will face a lot of RH pitchers here. I have Edmonds on a Coors team that just started.

Anyhow 2 cents worth!! Good luck.

Pettitte had an ERA under 4 for me in Minute Maid, so I have to conclude that the guy is good.

Being that you're in my division and we're against each other tonight, I would strongly recommend you just cutting as many people as you can as fast as you can. That 80% rule will really pay off after awhile!

Actually, at first glance, I thought you had a few pitchers that will give up more HRs than you'll want to deal with. Your offense is scary-good. I'm gonna hate playing you.

Good luck!
