I'm looking for historical perspective on Santana's 2005 season performances (the good, the bad and the ugly) to assist me in deciding whether to trade him now. The season is 8 games old, I play in Petco and his era 5.12 thanks to 14 homers allowed. The upside is that he has a WHIP of 1.14 and 64 strikeouts in 51 innings. What would you do?

Step 1: Look to see if Detroit Tigers is in your league.
Step 2: Trade to Detroit Tigers (if possible, use whatever means necissary)
Step 3: If not, then keep him

Santana does have a few BPHRs, so actually I only use him in pitcher's parks. But he is a decent pitcher so keep him (or trade to me).

I've had him twice. Once at the Metrodome in a no DH league where he was 18-6 with a 2.78 ERA. The other time was in a DH league at Petco. There he was getting his brains beat in and giving up tons of homers. I dumped him for Chris Carpenter and some hitting help and went from 11 games under to 10 games over making the playoffs....losing as usual.

Keep him...unless you can trade him for RJ.
