The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the retirement of third baseman Bill Mueller and have hired the 11-year Major League veteran as a Special Assistant to the GM, according to Dodger General Manager Ned Colletti.
"Bill’s ability to draw from his experiences on the field and his bright mind will be a huge benefit to the Dodger organization,” said Colletti. “He’s a winner both on and off the field and we’re very excited to add him to our team in the front office."
Mueller, 35, finishes his career with a .291 lifetime batting average, 85 home runs and 493 RBI in 11 seasons with the Giants, Cubs, Red Sox and Dodgers. A former batting champion and Silver Slugger Award winner in 2003, he was a member of the 2004 World Championship Boston Red Sox.
couple a great strat years, but those injuries were killers. even if he got a 35 at bat card or whatever it was this year would be a good one. good man goes upstairs cementing the Dodgers need for a 3b, or atleast someone to bat rh with Betimet.
