Hi,

I am drawing a blank what is the the break down of number of games played against your own foes in your division as compared to the number of games against the rest of the league? Thanks.

You play 72 against your div and 45 against each of the other 2 div for a total of 162.

Hi Mr. Groundhog,

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think those number of games works out right. If you play 45 games against another division that would make you play a team 11.25 times. Would it be 48 games (12 times against a team) against the other divisions giving a total of 96 games outside the division and 66 games inside the division?

I believe Mr Groundhog is correct. I'm certain that each team plays 8 series against each division opponent (total of 24 games against each, 72 total).

Against the other four teams in each division you'll play 4 series with 3 of them and 3 series with the 4th for a total of 45 games against each division. So there will be one team in each of those divisions that you'll play one less series with than the others.

Here is a matrix I prepared showing how many times each team plays each other. As far as I have seen it is accurate:

Road -> A B C D E F G H I J K L
Home v
A X 12 12 12 6 6 6 6 3 6 6 6
B 12 X 12 12 6 3 6 6 6 6 6 6
C 12 12 X 12 6 6 6 6 6 6 3 6
D 12 12 12 X 6 6 6 3 6 6 6 6

E 3 6 6 6 X 12 12 12 6 6 6 6
F 6 6 6 6 12 X 12 12 6 3 6 6
G 6 6 3 6 12 12 X 12 6 6 6 6
H 6 6 6 6 12 12 12 X 6 6 6 3

I 6 6 6 6 3 6 6 6 X 12 12 12
J 6 3 6 6 6 6 6 6 12 X 12 12
K 6 6 6 6 6 6 3 6 12 12 X 12
L 6 6 6 3 6 6 6 6 12 12 12 X

The road team is the horizontal, the home team is the vertical. Example, if you are team "B" you will play everyone in your division on the road 12x, you will play every non-divisional team on the road 6x except for "F" who you will play only 3x on the road. You will play every division team 12x at home and every non-division opponant 6X except for team "J" who you will play only 3x at home. Hope this helps.

Joe
