My draft was just completed. I went to outright waive a player by clicking on his salary, and the screen said this(in red)-- NOTE; you may release this player now, but you will be unable to pickup any players until the waivers period is over. If would still like to release this player CLICK HERE. Does this mean that if I do waive this player then I lose my spot in the waiver draft?

No. It just means that that player is released outright from your team. Note that you will be credited his salary.

You can only drop one player total before waivers, so consider carefully.
