I've played the 80's version a handful of times, not a huge fan of the mystery card. Is 70's much different than 80's is it worth playing or should I just save my $$$ for 07?

I think it's worth playing, but I like every game that has come out since 2001. If you don't like the mystery card, you won't like it. It seems to be even more skewed good year vs bad year than the 80's game. There are few if any sure things, as I have Johnny B and Joe Morgans bad years on the same team. Catfish Hunter, one of the best pitchers, seems to be perenially on the waiver wire(once from me) after getting consistently shelled. TSN's improved pricing strategies have once again reared their ugly head, making it difficult to do anything really outstanding. I started playing SOM tabletop in the 70's, so I like seeing the old names. Definitely worth a try, but if you don't like the 80's, you won't like the 70's IMO.
