why a pitcher(Randy Lerch) who has a S6 rating and no relief rating is brought in late in the game in the first series of the year Of course he got shelled and I lost the game. No big deal but this is why it bugs me. I drafted 3 relievers (Mossi-$4.83,Arroyo-$4.49,and Righetti-$3.19) I then cut the 5th reliever to cut my relievers to 4. I did this to force the game to have only 4 selections to pick from when it just decides to pick a reliever. I shut down on the 4th relievers manager adjustments making it so whoever the game brings in I am covered with 1 of 3 really good choices. I drafted my 4th and 5th SP with no reliever rating to eliminate them from being randomly chosen to relieve. How are we expected to compete in this game if our strategies and selections are ignored? I didnt spend almost 14 million on a bullpen to just have my decisions overridden. Can anyone explain how a SP with no reliever rating and the bullpen on full rest is brought in a save situation?

Did you have some of your S/R listed in your Rotation settings? What year game are you using BTW?

lineup of pitchers for this situation

my pitching staff-

A. Nehf S*/R
J. Nuxhall S*/R
Candalaria S6*
Caldwell S8*
R. Lerch S6

D.Mossi R3 -$4.83
Arroyo R3- $4.49
Righetti R2-$3.19
Horton R3-$.5

I specifically set it up to hammer the other team with only 3 relievers with Horton's settings for him to not come in before the 8th. When I set my rotation I DID leave the 5th starter blank and only listed the first 4 but with his no reliever rating I didnt think the game would bring him in to relieve ESPECIALLY the first series of the season when my big 3 were obviously rested. I really wish the glitches like this ,another one I always like is when you go the player settings and check the box that says DO NOT STEAL on say, harmon killebrew, and ol Harmon gets tossed out not once but twice IN ONE GAME, would go away.. After just finding the SIM site and with reservations as to some of the lack of control over our team decisions on the internet version of strato I wonder why some of this stuff happens. I will be putting cousin Lerch into my rotation and yanking him when its his turn to see if that eliminates him. I will keep at it and hope for the best.

Could you copy and paste the boxscore? It would be interesting to see the game you are talking about. Or just provide the link to the game. I would like to see why this happened as well.

a) was lerch set in your rotation as the 5th? That will stop hal from using him as a reliever.

b) did the game go into extra innings? In extra innings, all bets are off on who HAL will use.

Yeah Geekor, that is what I'm thinking. Sometimes, extra inning games can bring about some odd results. I had Clemens pick up two wins in one series several leagues ago as he pitched Game 1 and then came into the game in the 15th inning of Game 3 and pitched 2 innings to get another win. You just never know what could happen.

Strange things do happen in extra-inning games. Games #26 and #27 for my current Coors Field squad went 16 and 15 innings, respectively. Matt Morris was the starting pitcher pitcher in Game #25, going 7.2 innings, and he pitched the last inning of Game 26 for a save. Livan Hernandez who had started game 24 pitched the last inning of Game 27 for a save and then returned to start Game 29.

Hey Tarheel, in Coors Field, all bets are off! The waterboy, the team's official steroid seller, and the coach's grandma all get IPs at Coors.....especially in extra inning shootouts!! :D

If you refer to the third game of the series, it is possible that 2 out of your 3 relievers were tired from games 1 and 2, and that Hal decided to save the 3rd for a save situation (depending on your settings)
