Computer or Board Game ?

Computer or Board Game ?

Postby STEVEWHITT » Tue Feb 13, 2007 5:42 pm

Just discovered this game while searching for fantasy bb. Enrolled and I am currently playing free game. Was wondering if the comp or board game would be helpful in better understanding of how the outcomes are determined. The only thing the instructions show are the hitter and pitcher cards. Sounds like there is more to it than those. Maybe I'm reading to much into it and its not necessary to understand all the behind the scenes calculations. But seems like it might helpful to understand how the various situations are resolved.
Thanks

Definately the computer version would help you more. You could run all kinds of sims and play whole seasons in a matter of minutes. You can also set it so you can watch HAL play the game and get a sense of how he plays it. You can also find tendancies or glitches that you would never notice with the online version or the board game. For instance, no matter what I would do I couldn't get the HAL to stop hitting for my #2 hitter,Michaels, versus lefties in 9th inning game-on-the-line situations against lefties, even though he was RH and had a better card against lhp. I don't know why HAL did that, just a glitch I guess.
You could never do that with the board game, but it is great for games against your buddies.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured the comp version might be better. I thought it would be nice to have the actual cards in hand. Looks like the hitters and pitchers cards come with the one of the comp versions. I guess I could always buy the other cards seperately. Or could get both versions and hope my wife is not here when the "truck" comes.....lol

I definitely recommend the computer version. Be sure to include the "card image" option which will display an image of the card for each player.

As a long time board and computer game player, I also love having the actual cards. If you think you might play the game with friends having the cards and board game is a great way to play.
