:) New to SOM. I have been playing fantasy sports for four year years now. It seemed I was never really intrigued by SOM but due some boredom this winter I decided to give it a try and I am truly enjoying it. Any advice from some experts about the strategies behind the game would be appreciated. After 12 games I am 7-5 so I am off to an average start. How often do good teams drop and add players? would be my first question?

Not much. Remember you lose money every time you drop a player, so it would be wise to do so as little as possible.

There is a learning curve in this game, most important thing is to have fun. And probably not to make any big changes until at least 40 games have played. This is basically a game a dice, and sometime you don't get good rolls early, so even though your team is good, if you are unlucky, they still can perform badly.

The biggest mistake new players make is always dropping and adding players. Unless you're making just one or two minor adjustments, your team will only get worse...

Hoosier,

Welcome aboard. You might want to read some postings here, and on the strategy board as well. For instance, take a look at the "Secret Formula 2006" thread below.
