The following is a list of all 30 ballparks available in the past year's SOM 2006 game, along with how often each was chosen by managers, the average regular season winning percentage of teams that played in them, and the percentage of the time they won Championships.

For the second contest in a row, nobody submitted guesses that were good enough to win a free SOM 2007 team credit. The task was to guess 5 out of the top 10 parks by frequency of Championships, and no one did it successfully. "Deelyo" was VERY close, though, with his 1 bad guess being RFK - [b:23ca5ba6cc]#11[/b:23ca5ba6cc] on the list. Before this is all over I may include Deelyo and J-Pav (who came close to winning the first contest) in a "consolation match"...

What tripped up most of you was including Petco in your guesses - Petco ended up being the 16th-best park to be in, with teams winning rings 7.5% of the time. To compare, if all teams and parks were equal, you'd have a 1-in-12 (8.3%) chance to win a Championship randomly. Draw your own conclusions...

More evidence that the game engine overweights HR's?

No, Petco and Kauffman are right up there among the best succesful stadiums with .507 and .510 winning average respectively.

However, it appears that this winning success in the season didn't translate into championships.

Interesting that the top 4 winning percentages were all Lefty or Righty parks and the next 4 were all Homerun or No-Homerun parks.

Safeco .511
PNC .511
Minute Maid .510
Ameriquest .507

Petco .507
US Cellular .507
Kauffman .505
Great American .504

Moreover, maligned, the four one-side park with the best winning pct are the four most extreme (MM: +13, Ameriquest: +8, Safeco +8, PNC +6 (with singles +6).

BTW, only nine stadiums succeded in having a winning season.

My two Ameriquest Champs as requested
