Two things. First this is the wrong forum for a 70's or 80's question. Secondly the stats are just a roll of the dice. If a player had a .333 BA for the year in real life that doesn't meant that in Strat he is going to hit 1 for 3 every night. Over the course of the year his BA should end up close to .333 but there are no guarantees.

I just had Pete Rose fininsh a season after I picked him up on waivers after someone dropped him because he was douing poorly. I picked him up because, as you say, he really doesn't have a bad season. He ended up .282/.346 for me with his worst card of the five(1978). As LM pointed out, you usually get less stats than the player actually put up do to the All-Star nature of the game. I would be patient, unlike the guy in my league who dumped him, because he will eventually put up some decent numbers. However, as LM also said, there are no guarantees.
