Individual Strategy settings

Individual Strategy settings

Postby ColFalkland » Tue Mar 13, 2007 8:29 pm

This is what the FAQ states about individual player settings:

Setting individual player settings

There is a series of strategy settings that you can set for each of your individual players. Click on the player's name where he is listed on your team roster. His player card will pop up in a new window. Scroll down to the bottom of the window, where your settings for this player are listed. Check off all of the settings that you wish to activate for this player, and press the "UPDATE STRATEGY SETTINGS" button to save them. As with all settings, you may make changes as often as you like, but you must make them by 10pm ET for them to take effect for that night's games

Anybody have a clue about where I can read up on what they actually do with the AI? I think you guys call the AI here HAL.

As far as I know there is no place here to get a grip on what Hal will do . Set your settings . Watch for your result in the managerial settings area in the stats page to make tweaks . Hal has a way of getting under a managers skin sometimes but for the most part he does ok .

HAL does fine if.....

You allow for the fact that it is not a person.
You allow for the fact that it has programmed functions
You have a ample bullpen
You don't expect HAL to win it for you, you actually have to field a good team and make good decisions..... :-)

Hi ColFalkland,

One of the settings that seems backwards to me is the pinch hitting one. Example Dustin Morh's card in the current set has no chance of getting on vs a right hand pitcher yet you would not want to check don't pinch hit for vs a right hand pitcher if you do that and Dustin is in the game it will leave him in to hit against the right hand pitcher.

I think in that case, you would not check that box. IF he has no chance to get on vs. RHP, why would you check don't pinch hit for vs. RHP?

Hi Ducapa,

Maybe I have been given some wrong advice but, what I was told by checking the don't pinch hit for against RH pitching means that HAL won't send him up against a RH pitcher.

"Don't pitch-hit for against right-handed pitching" means "don't pinch-hit for against right-handed pitching."

Hi,

Not that you would want Mohr playing anyways but what setting should you have checked for him if you were using him as a platoon player vs LH pitching. I was told that if you have the don't pinch hit vs LH pitching checked it means that he won't be taken out vs a LH pitcher. But does this lock him out of pinch hitting vs a LH pitcher if he is on the bench?

For Dustan Mohr, you would check the boxes that say "Avoid RHP" and "Don't Pinch Hit for vs. LHP"
