Guys,
I am a Statis Pro Baseball veteran when I was a kid back in the '80s. I recently came across Strat-O-Matic and was thrilled to see a league offered. My problem is that I am a rookie and need some advice on my roster prior to opening day on Monday. Here is my team, any advice is greatly appreciated.....

Pitchers:
Carlos Villanueava
Roy Oswalt
Erik Bedard
Woody Williams
Jon Garland
Trevor Hoffman
Rafael Betancourt
Hector Carrasco
Rick Bauer
Matt Wise

Hitters:
Dave Ross
Chris Gomez
Phil Nevin
Chipper Jones
Maicer Izturis
Pedro Feliz
Carl Crawford
Raul Ibanez
Adam Dunn
Hideki Matsui
Frank Catalanatto
Juan Pierre
Matt Kemp
Jeff Davanon

Post a link to your team . Here's how :

Go to the league stats page then click on your team . There should now be a long url ( page address) in the window . Copy the link then bring it here and paste it . The address should end with a user id# .

It should look something like this :

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg3/team/team_other.html?user_id=13040

Of course I'm using an ATG team as an example, yours would probably be 2000something game. When looking for help always post a link to your team and give what ballparks are in your division and a basic overview of what the league is ( hitters , pitchers , or nuetral parks ) It helps us help you more than just the basic info .

To begin with I would dump one of your RP. You won't need that many at AT&T Park. The 5 man rotation looks pretty good.

Consolidate you money for your hitters into the players that will start. You don't want a roster full of 2.5M guys. Get some 4-5M starters and have some 1M or less reserves.

Dump Ross and Nevin. Ross could be good in a HR park but not yours.

This isn't rotissiere baseball, you need defense, especially up the middle. You can not have 3's and 4's up the middle, especially in AT&T. Assuming you'll play Crawford in CF, 4's at the corners will give up too many extra base hits. If I'm wrong and you're going with Pierre in CF, well, that option might be worse. As for your hitters, well, I don't see one other than Gomez, Crawford, and maybe Pierre, that I would even consider on an AT & T park. Too much ballpark dependent hitters. My advice....

Keep Crawford, wipe out the rest of your hitters, and start from scratch.

Your pitching is fine, but having 3 *SP's already, get a 4th and go with a 4 man rotation.
