Current Rosters League-CANCELLED FOR LACK OF INTEREST

Not a complex concept. But I do want to head off disagreements by providing some rules.

1. Live draft, 1 round of 12 picks, on this message board. Draft order determined by reliable non-participator running us through the Random Number Generator (http://random.org/nform.html) and posting draft order.
2. $200 million salary cap.
3. Pick a team. And compose your Strat team using [b:fc9bd8c4dd]only[/b:fc9bd8c4dd] that team's [b:fc9bd8c4dd] current MLB roster[/b:fc9bd8c4dd]--not using the team the player was on last year, not using the team that's shown on the Strat card, but using the team the players are on [b:fc9bd8c4dd]today or at the time of the draft[/b:fc9bd8c4dd]--except that, if you cannot compose a legal team based on that team's real-life current roster, then you will be allowed to draft .50 player(s) only and only from an unpicked team. For confirmation as to what players you can choose from, I find mlb.com's depth charts to be pretty reliable as to who is on what team, currently.
4. Your stadium must correspond to the team you draft.
5. If you have a player on your team's DL, you may still put him on your roster and play him--i.e., real-life injuries don't mean anything. We'll play as if he's healthy.
6. A player in your team's minor league system is off-limits until he's brought up to the majors in real life. If after the draft a player is sent from the big leagues to the minors, you're not required to drop him from your Strat team.
7. Throughout the season, you can use your $200M to pull players in and out of the Free Agent pool, provided they are all players on your team's current roster.
8. [b:fc9bd8c4dd]No trades.[/b:fc9bd8c4dd], with one exception (keep reading). If after the draft, your real-life team trades a player from your team to another, [b:fc9bd8c4dd]you may, but you are not required,[/b:fc9bd8c4dd] to drop that player or trade that player to the appropriate manager (except that you may not receive in return a player who is not on your team's real life roster).
9. These rules cover all of the situations I can anticipate, but, if any new questions/issues arise during the season, we will be resolve them by majority vote. In order to have an odd number, I won't vote in those cases.
10. After draft order is determined, here is the division breakout: East=1,2,3,4. Central=5,6,7,8. West=9,10,11,12.

Not as complex as it sounds. I just like to be as upfront about everything as I can, to hopefully avoid manager confusion/disagreements later. If anyone has done this type of league before or sees other potential issues, let me know.

PJ,

What would be the reason for a live draft if you are only allowed to have individuals from specific teams.

There would be no reason that I can see, unless I am missing something.

I would guess the live draft would be to pick your actual teams, but that would only be 1 round.

That's correct. I accidentally stated this was 12 rounds on my original post. It's only 1 round. 12 managers, one pick, a team pick and that's it. PJ

$ 200M & other questions

What if the 2007 Yankees exceed $200M? Or any of the 12 teams for that matter? What if a player on this year's current roster wasn't in the majors last yr? Do you choose a free agent instead to ensure we have 25 guys?

Roster size only 25? So we're all on our own setting our rosters per current major lg roster of team we choose then you give us the lg name, password to use to join said lg?

DH or No?

BTW- MLBInfoCzar - always a pleasure to hear your thoughts!

"He is toast after his racist remarks about the women's Rutgers basketball team. " As he should be. The guy is a jerk.

"And while we're at it, how come blacks, including African American women, are not equally outraged at the lyrics in these hip hop, rap songs?" - Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
