At the time of this posting, the waiver period has not gone through. It should within about two hours. With this being my first 2007 squad, I'd just like to ask you guys what you think of the team - keep in mind that I did miss out on a bunch of players that I'd coveted, such as Omar Vizquel and Matt Holliday.

Other parks in the division are Turner Field, Wrigley Field, and Rogers Centre, while I will be playing at Camden Yards. It seems that most of my opposing pitchers will be right handed, and so I am working on nabbing a couple of solid left handed bats to keep them at bay. Since I don't play in an extreme offensive park, I'd like to go with speed, defense, and doubles power on offense, and some pitchers who can keep the ball on the ground (trying to get some improved defense from my up the middle defenders).

Any bargains out there that you guys can recommend? Any glaring holes that I might be missing? Any absolute studs that I simply cannot do without? And what do people think of Francisco Liriano's card? Papelbon's? Am I better off keeping them, or trying to move them?

If you're in a DH league, Gary Sheffield is definitely your man against lefties.

I would drop C. Lee if you are going to keep Theriot, I assume one is going to be DH, and Lee is a 5 Def. You don't need both, and the extra money could be spent to shore up your outfield.

Duffy had a great card last year, but this year is not good.

Good cheap defense for CF would be Kotsay, Payton ect., they hit better than Duffy and still are pretty cheap.

Use the extra cash to land a better LF and possibly exchange Francoeur for someone that hits better too.

Your OBP is not good with this team and will hurt in long run.

You shouldn't have anyone that is less than .300 obp on your team unless he is a back up.

Drop Francoeur, Duffy, Erstad, Cruz and C. Lee and get people like Chavez, R. Johnson, and Kotsay and still have money left over.

Hi JD. You helped me (successfully) with my first team back in '05. I know your probably still frenzyin' but if you need some $ you could downgrade Liriano to (if I'm reading Berce correctly) Sanchez, Harden Sabathia, Clemens, Hill who are all still there. They'll get the job done also.

only 2/12 possible LH SP you'll face in your division, you really need to be better vs RH hitting then you are.

Alos who's at the top of your lineup vs R's? Theroit/Youk 1/2 vs L, but R?

I'd replace Theroit with German, a genuine leadoff man vs boith sides with a *.

Well me, I'd replace Liriano with Clemens, Theroit with German, Youk with Gload, Church with Scott and since you're already playing a 4 in the OF, replace Jrod with Diaz. Your Tb's would go up a ton....

My thinking with the guys I've got right now is that there would be a ton of doubles bouncing off the walls in the outfield. Theriot and Youkilis are both 40+ doubles guys, and Theriot gets on base a ton. Church is the big lefty to stabilize my lineup against righthanders - I do agree that I need to get better against righties, but I'm not entirely certain how to do that right now. Luke Scott is gone from free agency right now, but he might wind up back there. Who knows? Travis Hafner would make a lovely addition to DH.

Do I really need Ryan Zimmerman at 3B? I really want his defense, but I could get German in the lineup with Theriot at 3B if you guys think I can get away with a 4 on the infield. It's a thought, I suppose. I know I can't really go half way with any committment - at this point it needs to be defense or offense, right?

Do I really want to lose Francisco Liriano? That looks like the best starting pitcher's card in the deck this season. Can I afford to cut ties with a guy like that? Here goes... I'm gonna make some changes and see what sticks.

tell me which one is doing better?

honestly I have Liriano on 3 teams, Clemens on 3 teams, and clemens is doing better than Liriano. Lirinao seems to keep a low era and whip, but is lucky to be .500 on all those teams.... maybe cursed for me?

Hey there JD, I don't have much to say to help, your team laready looks much better than most of my 07 disasters so far, I just wanted to drop by and give you good ol' Mr Green:

Good to see you around.

P.S. IMHO you are short by two TB guys. I am not too crazy about German's card. I like it for sure but I feel like I am paying for his 2B defense, in your team he's good fit since he can cover great for Cano's inj but I still feel like his "lower" slg/ lower def isn't what I like for the price tag.

I would rather play an Ozuna/Maicer Izturs platoon in 3B -Don't know if Maicer is available though- Personally I'd consider downgrading Wuertz and working Papelbon/Zumaya to the max. Take some of the Wuertz $$$ and get you at least another big bopper- preferably two, ideally one with a neutral or positive clutch and another with lower SLG. One for the 5 Spot and another for the 7 spot. Finally, I can't see your division right now but if you see speed in your division Change Loduca, of your workhorse pitchers Papelbon has the best hold (0) -people could run on you fairly good and often.

-For not having anything to say I've ranted on for a bit, eh?

Good to see you around JD, all best of luck.

Good to see you around, too, C. I'm playing with the first of two credits I got from my final 2006 team - lucky, eh?

I will definitely look into making some changes both at catcher and in the bullpen. If I can save the money by cutting Liriano and picking up someone else who can offer similar quality, I will most assuredly do it. I was feeling a little bit cold about my TB - the power on this team is non-existant, and the speed won't come close to making up for it. All right... back to the drawing board.

Everyone else, gimme your suggestions. This is my first 2007 team, as I stated - I have no problem sharing the role of Dr. Frankenstein while I stitch this monster together. Keep 'em coming!
