Platoons?

Platoons?

Postby geekor » Tue Apr 17, 2007 12:39 pm

Anyone try any decent platoons yet? There doesn't seem to be a lot of good platoon partners this year as much as last.

What about a J Smith/Tucker DH platoon for leadoff? Sure all walks, but a lot of them with a *?

The defense isn't the greatest but I like a Hawpe/Ross platoon in RF.

DH: Sheffield/Matsui (with Davanon or Figgins to cover matsui injury and in pitchers' parks).

ANY CF platoon with Taveras!!!!!

More pricey---PABLO OZUNA versus LHP

Mohr (in hitters park) versus LHP

Bernie Williams too.

Agree on Hawpe. Also, mackowiak works nicely.

I'm just ruminating about platooning in a pitcher park. I lost out on my 3Bs of choice and wound up trying David Bell as a cheap option to round out my anaemic offense. He's holding up against LHP ( .290 .325 .395), but can't even get on base versus the right). I was thinking of dropping rp Feliciano (who has tanked for me so far) and picking up Koskie to platoon with Bell, any thoughts (McPherson, M+C Izturis, Ozuna, Tracy not available)? Dropping Bell doesn't seem to get me anyone else more interesting.

Sheffield/Griffey DH platoon working out nicely.

Sheffield has given me amazing production in 150+ AB so far: .359 .433 .609 with 10 HR and 30 RBI, not bad for a 1.61 Mil player.

Griffey not so much, hitting .206 .255 .389 in 180 AB, but amazingly has similar counting stats, 28 runs vs Sheff's 30 runs, and 27 RBI vs 30.

So for 2.63 million, I got 19 HR and 57 RBI in 326 AB...not bad.
