Is anyone else having problems with him? I am have him on two teams and it seems he cannot hit the Mendoza line hardly. So far he is hitting .202 with 17 HRs in 87 or is it 90 games for one of my teams. Is his card that bad? I did not buy the ratings disk this year becasue I rarely used it in 2006 and did fine, but WOW, I am having trouble so far with 2007 and Ortiz is a big reason why, that and all of my teams are struggling in 1-run games.

Anyway, anyone else having problems with him. On my second team he is batting .196 with 11 HRs in 45 games. HRs are there but not enough for a Great American Ballpark team.

BTW The other team is playing in Ameriquest.

This team is in the "Play for your Region" league.

The power #'s are there, but the BA is M.I.A. And...he just got above the Mendoza line a few games ago. :? :?

Pretty good in US Cell, but the guys in front of him are Jeter, Manny & Pujols with an average OBP of about .420.

Might cut him in Fenway

I don't think he has a card that will hit his RL .287

He had 160 last year. 54 hr, 29 2b and 2 3b. That leaves 75 singles that he has to get off pitchers card etc since he has none to speak of on his card(s1-9R:s1-5L).

But in my best Marlon Brando as Colonel Walter E. Kurtz...

The Power...The power.....

Looking at the ratings, it isn't a surprise, only 18.6 hit chances against RHP, but those hits yield 56+ bases. Almost all extra base hits on the card from the looks of it. Not much better against lefties. He should, however, have a good OBP and lots of power.

anyone with the cd game that has run simulations

do some of the players seem out of whack this year? maybe it was the late ballpark adjustment, maybe it is Hal Richman and Co. but 18.6 hit chances for a guy who hit .287 seems low. I would have expected 22-24

Ortiz batted .293 with a .434 OBP and a 1.083 OPS vs. RHP last year. He wasn't even close to that against lefties, so how his card is an E is a mystery. Guys with worse BAs vs. RHP but similar overall BA all had more hit chances. The card seems really out of whack as far as the hit chances vs. RHP. And probably not worth the dough unless you have massive OBP in front of him and are taking advantage of the natural power. Just strikes me that you have to make too many concessions to make him work. Of course, my opinion may be tainted by the fact that he is the DH on a team that has started 4-11. .168 with 5 HR but only 7 RBI (my OBP guys aren't getting on). I think he's going to disappoint big time.

seem to have similar issue in not being able to live up to their RL BA.
