Salute to the 06 Bargains

Salute to the 06 Bargains

Postby Jerlins » Fri May 04, 2007 8:44 am

As my last 06 team winds down, heres a big thank you to the following players that did wonders for me throughout the season:

Jamie Moyer: You were simply the best. 3, maybe 4 20 win seasons out of you, regardless of the ballpark.

Aaron Heilman: Ok, so you weren't so cheap, but considering you allowed me the luxury of not needing a 2nd RP over $1 on so many teams, how can I not include you?

Bob Wickman: Well, I so often was tempted to use you as my main closer, but when push came to shove, I never had the stones. Still, leaving you off the list would have been an injustice.

Jose Molina/Kelly Stinnett: Spending a total of $2 for you two guys paired together seemed like highway robbery every time I did it. May you two be forever joined!

Brady Clark: Oh, the screams of "You need power at DH!!" Well, having you allowed me to have power at SS instead!!

Cliff Floyd: Watching you keep pace with Ortiz, Arod, and Jones in the home run races was a pleasure to watch.

Brad Eldred: Wish I found you earlier, but thanks for the late season heroics!

Byrd, Chacin, Derosa, Counsel, Carroll, Halama and a few others gave me some fond memories and great results. Thanks for some great results guys!!

AMEN on a number of those guys Jerlins.

A number of times when putting a Petco team together, I wanted to use Wickman. But never did. The problem was I was usually the lone pitching park in the division.

Griffey usually put up nice #'s for me in '06.

Peralta @ DH fared well too.

Gibbons usually hit .250 but almost always had 30-40 HR's.

Garabito leading off as a DH in Petco was $.

Edited to keep with the thread:

As the grass becomes faded and the leaves turn to brown and as the sun sets on the '06 season.........

"Dustin Hermanson, You were the light of my team as the darkness of winter approached"

I always had Benoit and Riske perform well out of the bullpen which were both pleasant surprises. 2X Benoit leads the league in Batting Average Against

Jerlins, I love the "awards banquet" tone of your posting. I give hugs and handshakes to...

Latroy Hawkins: "You were bankable for 15-20 saves as the lethally cheap half of my Minute Maid closer platoon. Latroy, (sniff), you are the best value player I've ever had in any year on any team."

Cory Sullivan: "In a year where top defensive CF were at a premium, you roamed the pastures, stole bases, advanced runners, laid down bunts and squeezes at a price that allowed me to afford the almighty A-Rod."

Brad Radke: "Some GMs looked at the dingers on your card and ran screaming. I saw your bargain basement WHIP. You kept runners off the bases and gave me 200 innings and 12-18 wins from the 4th spot in the rotation."

Reggie Sanders: "There are those who called you soft or gimpy. But I'll take those 30 home runs in 300 at bats any way, any year."

Markp65 will be Master of Ceremonies at the next banquet! Good job!

And glad to hear mention of Bruntlett, another player that found his way on my team more often than not.

Will Ohman, your Petco performances were otherworldly. Surely your price of $2.5M was merely a jest. Well done my good friend, but this year I must bid you adieu.

Chris Singleton, why was your name not Platoon Doubletons? I scoff in the general direction of your .91 price tag.

Graffinino : simply the best 2B bargain in the game

Brady Clark : No dispute here , great

Willie Tavares/ Beltran platoon : awesome

Teixiera : best glove , monster numbers - 2007 sucks

BJ Ryan , Street , Witasick . A proud pen .

Rogers - Glavine - Small - Vargas - Saarloos - Thompson - Won 2 rings with them .

2006 , to me , is a much better balanced game than 2007 .
