I am sure I have seen the answer, but need to be reminded.

If I have JJ. Putz as a SET UP and Closer: Not before 8th

He will NOT tire if he comes in during the 8th and then becomes the Closer in the 9th.

What is the rule here.

Is this correct?? Do the settings re-set once he becomes the closer??? and then the fatigue factor kicks in for his closer rating???

Correct, except that he does lose one C rating for each out he has recorded prior to the game becoming a closer situation. So if he records three outs in the eighth, and then works the ninth in a closer situation, he begins the ninth with a C3 rating. Once his C rating kicks in, it remains in effect regardless of whether the game turns into a 'non-closer' situation.

FYI for those who don't know, closer situation is NOT the same as save situation. Closer situation = 9th inning, tying run on base or at bat. So closers can become 'unfatigued' if they have reached their POW and the situation suddenly changes to a closer situation.
