You need a lot more power. I like V Martinez for a neutral/pitching park, but he doesn't cut it in yours. I think you will get hammered.

I don't have quite the negative asessment that DJ does, but he is right about your weakness. Get some HR mashers. Depending on the makeup of your division, I would consider dumping V Mart, B Roberts, vizquel (you'll be able to trade him) and perhaps Bard and Mathews. I would consider getting rid of Wright and Scott too, if you could exchange them for guys with more BP HRs. These guys all have high average skills, which is nice, but in your park, you should exchange some average for some power.

Also, with all your Switch-hitters and platoons, you are extremely vulnerable to reverse pitchers, especially righties. If your division has lots of hard SPs, you'll be okay, but if there are 3 or more reverse starters you have some serious problems.

Your pitching looks okay, provided that you'll see a lot of LH hitters. Careful with Garcia, who can get hammered in your park if there are enough RH hitters with N power in your division.

Good luck

You may be right about the power. I dont have the ballpark home runs that I would like playing in citizens. I could pick up Loney or Delgado but I've haven't been thrilled with what I've seen out of them. any thoughts jerry?

It's hard to give a complete assessment without knowing your division. What parks , how many LHSP vs RHSP you face and who are the key players on each team.

Anyways, I agree for the most with what has been suggested. However, I wouldn't cut Wright. he does have 3 BPH shots vs. RHP and a RHH who can pound RHP is nice. I think you have too much coin wrpped up in platoons. this $ could be used to upgrade your pitching. Speaking of.....

Let's talk pitching! You need help with that staff. Citizen's may favor LHH but RHH can still put up #'s there. With your starters visiting RHH's will feast. I don't like having more than 1 LHSP. It is too easy to stack lineups with lefty slayers. Willis has yet to show me his worth in 07. Bedard has run hot and cold. I have seen Zito, Pettite and Duke hold their own...value wise. There are plenty of good RHSP that are strong vs. LHH. I would rather have a staff with 3-4 RHSP shutting down LHH than 2 LHSP that shut down LHH.

I think you are top heavy in the pen. In 07, more often than not, I have seen winning teams carry 11 pitchers. It seems to give Hal options he can handle. I would cut Duchy for 2 less expensive guys whose salaries combine for around 2-2.5 million. There are plenty of good combo's that fir that range. I would cut Hawkins with a chainsaw ! He is a disaster waiting to happen. again, there are a half dozen cheapies who are better. Let Gonzo close both ways.. he will do OK. With proper settings Heilman should get you over 150 innings.

there are two millers and one dodger stadium in the divison. 4 lefty pitchers (santana, liriano, kazmir, and capuano).

the offensive move i'm considering is dropping bard and martinez for thome and pierzynski. thoughts?

I'd agree on the platoons in the our field but i've struggle to find a modest price RF and Dh that I like. Thoughts?

the problem is HAL does a very very very very (I could go on forever) poor job of handling platoons. In fact, it's like he does nothing, no it's not "it's like", he really does nothing. No real or good pinch hits, nothing.

This makes your offense weak late in the games when the bullpen comes into play.

Personally, I would keep Scott. He has the most TB's vs RHP in the set, as well as the only true #2 hitter in the set (using the criteria of low DP's + OBP). He is also usually a first round pick (as is Vizquel).

Also E German is out there, one of the 2 (him and Abreu) true leadoff hitters in the set (50+ ob and a * for stealing). Forget the W powered on him, he's usually in the top 10 in OBP, on 2 teams of mine he is #1. Play him at 2nd (bad but not horrible def) 3rd (bad Errors) or DH (prefer a DH for power for you).

And I can't believe C Ross is out there when you are platooning and you haven't picked him up. Do it, [u:ab702d65d2]NOW[/u:ab702d65d2]. A Cheap power platoon for you at DH could be Ross/McPherson.

So if you took your DH, RF, C, 1B, 2B and replaced them with Thome, Pierz, Ross/McPherson, Thames (2nd most pure Hr's in the set + max BP Hr's), German and a .50 backup C, it would save you .93 mil.

Of course I didn't do the math to see if it would actually make you better, just seeing what was available and eyeballing it ;)
