OK, there's absolutely no reason Dellucci should sub for Vladdy here:
1) I'm losing the game
2) Vlad isn't checked to be replaced defensively anyway
3) It's NOT part of a double-switch or anything.

I've played Strat since the get-go in '02, and this HAL move[i:8aec3a32c2] really[/i:8aec3a32c2] has me scratching my head. There's absolutely no explanation here.

Maybe HAL saw Vlad walking like Fred Sanford and thought that was who he was and wanted to upgrade the speed :D . SGT D

Although I check my boxscores, my life shortens evertime I see something like this.
Last season, I had HAL pull Teixera almost evertime he got a hit late in the game. I wouldn't have cared if it was a blowout, but if I had a rally and came back, my sub had a worse bat AND glove than Teix.
I'd bring this to Bernie's attention. :? :?

Stuff like this among other things is really souring me on Strat.

Jeep, don't say that kind of thing..... A little vent and a couple of three game sweeps over my teams will put you in a better frame of mind, so you can continue to create those mad, evil genius theme leagues that keep me coming back.
Why, I couldn't like you more if you were A-Rods blonde....
Okay, I lied about that one, but you get the idea.
HAL replaced Vlad with Delucci because Delucci is a 'gamer'. There's not a statistic that can measure that..... :D

Jeep,
it's a bug with Bernie's updated code. I've already mentioned it to him in the past, maybe his fix wasn't enough. I had M Young get replaced defensively with Cintron, who is worse defensively and is no where near the hitter.
I don't get it either.

When faced with a between-innings substitution after a pinch-hitter was called for (Chavez pinch-hitting for Hernandez and staying at 3b), the computer manager will look for an opportunity to improve your overall situation in the game while using a reasonable, limited number of bench players.
Dellucci, a lefty, has a better card vs. righties than Vlad, especially considering that the current opposing pitcher, Wainwright, was a 9R. Add that to the fact that the computer regards Dellucci's 4e3 as much less of a liability in RF than Vlad's 4e15 (the vast arm difference granted), and you can begin to see why it thought Dellucci was a better option in RF.
Am I way off base? If you disagree with the move, that's one thing, but I don't see how this is particularly bad logic.
Edit: Geekor, that bug was ostensibly fixed. In Jeep's example, the case CAN be made that Dellucci was a better option than Vlad.

Bernie...how does HAL "know" Dellucci has a better card than Vlad?
What formula does HAL use?
Raw data shows:
Dellucci with 24.9 hit chances/38.9 OB chances/ 45.6 TB chances
Vlad has 31.8 hit chances/ 32.8 OB chances/ 48.4 TB chances
Is HAL judging this by OB chances? Does he use defense as a barometer?
Personally, it makes more sense to have Vlad in there. He has better #'s in 2 of the 3 categories.
I'm not sure I understand the computer manager trying to improve the situation replacing a guy with better offensive #'s and a cannon for an arm with a guy that has inferior #'s and throws like my 1 year old girl.

There's no way ever I want Dellucci to be in there over Vlad. I'm very disappointed that decision was made (for me).

Could anyone imagine Vlady being pulled from a game for Delucci in real life for any reason other than it's a blowout and the coach is trying to avoid injuries in a non-competitive game?
Vlady is a big guy. I don't think I could look at him and tell him he is benched!
