It says BJ Ryan was given the win??? Unless I'm totally missing something he should have been given a save and Looper probably gets the win. :?

Yeah...that's how I read it too. Looper finished off the 5th with the lead and they never relinquished it, so should have gotten the W.

Ryan pitched the 9th for the Save.

In real baseball.

In real baseball the official scorer can award the win to whom he considers the most effective pitcher if game never gets tied after the starter leaves and the starter does not go 5 innings.
In this case Ryan was the most effective, therefore maybe followed like real baseball.

That was the only rational I could come up with as well bigmje. With the other guys getting holds though I just thought Ryan should get the save.

I am only guessing here.
I do not pertain to know how Hal is programed in this situation but a similar event happened to me and I had to read closely when I was figuring who got the win.
Since Ryan had a perfect inning he basically pitched the best.

I was going to suggest that as a mirror of real baseball...BUT...if HAL is actually programmed to determine the most effective pitcher in this scenario, then all the requests we've been making for upgrades should be child's play!
