Question, should I used B.Roberts in shea or pickup furcal, with a good defence back-up like N.Perez

Roberts and Furcal play different positions... but I would definitely try to move Roberts. He hits righties better than lefties, and would see many more lefties than righties in Shea. Also, all those lefties would turn him around to the right side of the plate, making him weak for the park altogether.

Thanks JD, Furcal does play ss/2b, however he is like time bomb. If i didnt have young, i would grab furcal for SS, but 2b I like Kenndy or cora9 not sure if available) I am not to keen on going with Nefie perez at 2b vs lefties either, just want him for defence at 2b.

Alex Cora is solid defensively and gets on base (.364 OBP), so if you're gonna get rid of Roberts, I would go with him.

Right now, though, I'm not sure that's your biggest problem. Juan Uribe might be worth $4.44 million as a second baseman because of his pop and his bat, but as a third baseman, I don't think so. You might be able to grab Eric Chavez for that kind of money. Jose Hernandez might even be a safer investment - 3B-3e20, 5L, has some pop, $3.74 million. Is he available?

Also, being a non-DH league, I would see what kinds of relievers were still available. You could drop Nate Robertson and Danny Haren and pick up another quality arm for the 'pen, because your pitchers will be taken out for pinch hitters more often than in the standard leagues. Make sense? I'm just thinking that you could end up using an extra pitcher in every game that you might not have in the DH leagues, and that will cause you to have some mismatches to your disadvantage in late innings. I don't know for sure, I haven't played a non-DH league (would like to), but that's just the way I see it.

Are you starting Phil Nevin at catcher? Yikes. He's rated a C-5, and his +4 throwing arm means that most anybody you face will get two free bases for a walk. Gary Carter could steal a base on Phil Nevin. Today. In a DH league, coupling Nevin (1B) with Thome (DH) looks like a sound decision. Catching him every day of the week in a non-DH league - you might as well point a gun at your little toe. It'll hurt that bad. Passed balls, stolen bases, errors in general... this is starting to sound like a horror movie!

All right, that's all I've got for you right now, but I will continue to check in. Thanks for being so open minded about suggestions, and not getting offended when I try to be a little humorous about my observations. Making people angry here isn't my objective, helping is.

Oh! Damason Marte and Jamie Walker are both lefties with a 9L swing. You might want to scrap one of them in favor of the money saved, and put that money towards another player.

JD your comments are more then welcome, since your're "shea expert" beleive me, i do appericated the humour, and i promise i wont tell :) Its really fine, and I do take it with a learning expeiences towards building shea teams.

Since i pickup robertson, i believe i could let go of marte, saves some bucks there.

about nevin, didnt someone suggested about a platoom of piazza and Mauer? well if i am not mistaken piazza is worse defence then nevin. anyways not biggie deal, thinking to go with jason veritak anyways insead, like him better for shea.

I be back later on, time to mess more with this shea team, btw I dont want drop haren i find he is one of the best value pitchers out there. plus i could used him as mop- or relief pitcher.

Joel, Haren sucked for me at Shea. :(

I'm impressed by your pickups of Varitek and Mabry, good job. I think Mabry should be your everyday leftfielder, which kind of bumps Reed Johnson and Raul Ibanez out of the picture. Also, a right handed bat with a little bit better fielding in right field might be a good idea. Jones OBP (.315) isn't going to be very helpful to you, even in Shea.

I'd also still like to see another power arm or two in your bullpen, whatever you can afford. I think that Lidge would be effective as your set up and closer against both sides, but maybe a guy like B.J. Ryan to make it a three headed monster with Lidge and Cormier would make your 'pen a bit scarier.

One last thing... upon further review, Pedro might not post the best of numbers for you with Michael Young behind him. Martinez has SS-X rolls at frequent spots on his card (5-9, 5-10, both sides) so Young could be allowing a lot of basehits to get through him, whereas a better fielding shortstop might turn more of them into outs.

Overall, your team is shaping up nicely. The management settings could make or break you with this roster, but that's what makes a lot of people successful at this game - being able to look at their roster and just know what kinds of settings they will be able to work with. Run more? Less? Who's my pinch runner? Things like that. Also, the moves that I have recommended are coming from a very idealist perspective - I know that a lot of them might not be entirely realistic, so don't break your neck trying to make moves based on the things I have said. And never call me an expert again... there are people on these boards that would wipe their backside with me! :P

[quote:32e9d5c293]about nevin, didnt someone suggested about a platoom of piazza and Mauer? well if i am not mistaken piazza is worse defence then nevin.[/quote:32e9d5c293]Piazza is 4(+3)e4, T-12 (pb-5). Nevin is 5(+4)e16, T-20 (pb-0).

In English: Piazza adds 15% to a baserunner's chance to steal; makes 4 non-throwing errors a year; has a 9% chance of a throwing error every time he tries to throw a baserunner out; has a .6% chance to allow a passed ball in any at-bat where there's a runner on base.

Nevin adds 20% to a baserunner's chance to steal; makes 16 non-throwing errors a year; has a 15% chance of a throwing error every time he tries to throw a baserunner out; will not allow a passed ball off his own card.

Nevin is significantly worse defensively, IMO.
