Hey Geekor,

Hey Geekor,

Have you played in Busch yet this year? 1-1/1-7 and 1-6/1-4

I have a team waiting to fill a league, and was wondering what you thought would be a good pitching staff to have there,

I think on my draft card I had Pedro, Clemens, Young, Contreras, and Olsen....

Hoffman as Closer
Heilman, Oliver as setups/main relievers

D. Young, Rolen, Diaz, Ichiro, Carroll, Gload, Redmond M. Young (DH),

What do you think????

Of course I haven't even drafted yet, but was wondering if I had the right combination. Or more to the point, if I was planning this out right

Honestly, too many hitter geared towards hitting lefties. Why not Abreu over Young? I don't think anyone in autoleagues draft Young usually. I usually play Diaz as my DH, not in the field btw. The only real power threat you have with that is Rolen, probably not enough slugging to really do well. Is this a 60 mil team?

Clemens is a great pitcher, needs to be high. I much prefer Sheets over Pedro for close to the same price. I havne't used Young or Olsen yet, but seen some good stats in the past. Might as well try for Street as a closer and save some $$, or pony up and get Putz/Saito high.

by planning it out, you'd have to describe your plan. In a pitchers park, I look to have good OBP in the top 2 spots, then good hits + tb's from 3-6 (preferably 7).

Alright,

Here is my RFK team that just drafted last night,

Crazy league.....

3 RFK Teams all in my division and 1 Yankee

Rest of league consists of 2 Shea, 2 Kaufmann, 2 AT&T, Dolphin (who also has all lefty pitching staff, starters and relievers) and one Lone Cell team.

I got nearly everything I was shooting for except for 2nd base ...Was looking for Freddy Sanchez, but got Cabrera instead.

I will have to find a 2nd baseman but have Cabrera for bait......or should I keep him and ship off Chipper for some help?

Escobar, R. Johnson and Ichiro in outfield not bad, but....if I dump Cabrera in Waivers and trade R. Johnson for 2nd baseman, I may be able to pick up a certain Left fielder that is still a free agent.......

Any theories here....

Bodie,

You want geekor's input here or could I throw my 2 cents in?

I will take all input available,

I only have to face like 2 Lefty starters in my division too, at least before waivers.

I am starting to like the L.S. Idea, but I will have to sacrifice my 2nd baseman for it most likely because I still need some relief pitching help.

I have never used Wickman before either......is this good choice with all the pitchers park especially in my division.....

I hate Kennedy, but that may be what I need unless I can talk Grudzielanek out of one of the other teams....

All advice is welcome

I like your starting staff, though with all those pitchers parks you could probably cut more corners -- if you don't pitch him in hitters parks guys like Bonsor and Beckett will put up numbers similar to your aces. I like Capps in the pen and Wickman isn't ideal for your park, but should do well enough -- don't overspend on your pen your starters should eat innings. Ichiro withstanding, your defense is going to hurt you.

Dunno about Laird vs. all the righties in your division.

I would definetly look to get a cheaper #5 and put that $$ towards the pen. Bonser or Edgar Gonzalez, perhaps O'Conner. With all those pitching parks you don't have to worry so much.

I actually like Cabrera a lot at 3b, more than Jones actually. Jones to me is a better bargain, but Cabrera fill the need of an anchor for you offense, i.e someone ot bat 3rd on both sides. If you miss you planned LF, you could put Manny #2, he also makes a decent #2 hitter on both sides, sure you lose those BP Hr's, but his OBP is still superb. I also see German is there, someone else you should target, and he makes a great leadoff hitter.

Cabrera and R. Johnson vs Chipper and "That Left Fielder"

That is the question.....

I have pegged Kennedy and plan to get rid of Laird due to lack of LHSP in Division.

Corriea, Soriano, and Ron Flores are also tagged for now

I see what you mean about expensive starting....didn't really think I would land all 5......

Questions.....would I be better off going with less SP and upgrade my Closer?????

Intriguing that 3 of 4 teams are at RFK in Division.....Missed out on D. Oliver though, would have been Ideal here.

So many different ways to play this.

Obviously I have until tomorrow to decide, so keep tossing the Ideas out there.....I think I have the best RFK team in division, but that is yet to be seen.....

There sure are alot of good expensive hitters available....don't see that too often.

I'd look for pitchers park bargains and upgrade your hitting. There may be a better fit than Wickman, but not convinced you need to. If you aren't finding the defensive fit, German is an excellent target. Always listen to geekor.

Here's an RFK that choked its way out of game 7 of the finals ...

I'm using Bonser, E. Gonzalez AND O'Connor right now in a pitching park with good results.
